What does heartburn feel like?

What are the usual symptoms of heartburn? Can anybody describe how it feels?

Also, can you treat heartburn with Rennie tablets, or does it have to be Gaviscon?

Any foods to avoid etc?

Kind of like a burning blockage in your upper chest. Hurts like hell.

Only Gaviscon worked for me. And drinking milk.

For me it feels like a burning sensation in my throat/chest, often with "sicky" burning burps (nice!)

I don't have it badly though. I just use Gaviscon as I got it on free prescriptiuon from teh GP

Think if you avoid spicy foods it can help, but as I say I only get it occasionally and eat loads of spicy food. Some people are more prone ot it I think
