Baby heartbeat- any truth in galloping horses for girls/ trains for boys?

When the MW heard the HB last week she mentioned that the sound of the HB can indicate the sex. Think its all abit far fetched but thought I'd get opinions here!

When she did it, was definately a gallop but since we've heard it on the doppler as steam trains!

I think its bollocks

LOL MamaG - wondered that myself.... thought it was odd for the MW to insist it was a girl based on the HB speed and sound!

We didnt even want to know!

Its nonsense.

She'll be right 50% of the time.

My mums a midwife and she has told me in the past that baby boys tend to have a slower heartbeat (I think I've got it the right way round!!), but I don't think you'd be able to tell after one hearing...

DD's was dramatically faster than ds's so that works for us!

when my midwife (very old school) heard the heartbeat she said that she was sure it was going to be a baby girl. Imagine my surprise at a scan at 35 weeks when they told me it was a boy

ITS ALL NONSENSE....the only odds of being right with any of these guessing schemes are the 50% ones!!!

Ive got to be honest and say it was right with mine. Both girls were like a "d-dum,d-dum,d-dum" while my son was a "sh-shoe, sh-shoe, sh-shoe" noise. LOL

in hospital loads with all of them and heard it alot and it never changed
