pregnancy after an ectopic pregnancy

Has anyone had an ectopic pregnancy and then went on to have a normal pregnancy?

I had an ectopic 3 years ago that rutured, DP and I are now TTC but am worried about what happens if I do get pregnant.

I'm obviously worried about having another ectopic, especially as first one ruptured and I lost a lot of blood etc.

Do you get sent for more test earlier on to establish wether the pregnancy is in the right place?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

yep, i had an ectopic and went on to have three, normal, healthy children - (not all at the same time )

I remember being really worried about another ectopic but once the first scan's over you start to relax.

Good luck with TTC.

I am pg now after having a ruptured ectopic and emergency surgery in May ...
I hope it wil be okay
I'm worried about my scar too as they couldn't do the surgery without a large horizontal cut like a cs

LL - i had a CS aged 21....
then my ectopic aged 37...they too follwed the dotted line!

freaky!

MissKubelik · 14/10/2008 13:45

My first pregnancy was ectopic, had keyhole surgery to remove tube which was about to rupture. Three months later I was pregnant again - successfully this time! I had no problems with my pregnancy at all, so much so that the baby didn't want to come out in the end and I had a caesarean... Three years later I am pregnant again with no problems.

Make sure you insist on an early scan at 5/6 weeks when you do become pregnant. I have found that they won't automatically do this, you will have to ask for it. Second time round I got messed around by the NHS early pregnancy unit and ended up going for a private scan. Cost £80 but it was well worth it for the peace of mind, knowing the baby was developing in the right place.

good luck

LL - we truly are abdominal scar twins!

mumonthenet · 15/10/2008 21:28

wait a min, I too have a 7 inch horizontal scar from my ep!

but didn't have any cs...so they didn't need to follow the dotted line.

I had ruptured ectopic 11/04 lost right tube.
Seriously I'll from internal bleeding
Conceived ds2 ( my 3rd) in June/july?06 aside from appendicitis and emergency surgery at 22 weeks it was fine
I got early scan internal at 5 weeks. Another abdo scan 7 wks and was under consultant until discharged at 30 weeks.
Good luck!!!

memoo · 16/10/2008 12:51

I too had a nice 7 inch scar, we could start a club

I'm so nervous, I so want to have another baby but i'm terrified of getting pregnant! I nearly died when my last one ruptured. Also I worry about losing my one remaining tube!

I'm going to test on Monday and if BFP will go straight to GP.

Lovely to hear so many success stories
