I have a MW apointment tomorrow anyway, but am going around in circles in my head.

I am 29+ weeks, I am as grumpy as grumpy can be, I feel really really tired all the time, even when I have just woken up, I'm sleeping all night, either laying on the sofa or actually sleeping on it when I get the chance, I'm in bed for 9 o'clock most nights and sleep all night again, and yet I still am soooo tired, I feel sick with it. I know this all sounds so over the top, but I seriously can't do a thing without feeling sick from sheer exhaustion, yet with all the rest/sleep I am having it can't be tiredness, can it?

I am eating well, drinking like there is tomorrow though still feeling thirsty, all bodily functions () are working fine.

Other symptoms include getting really breathless for no apparent reason, (baby isn't pressing into my lungs yet, so not lack of space) I feel like I can't just settle, even when I am sleeping I am constantly twitching about and tossing and turning. I constantly feel like I am either going to be sick, or it is going to come out of the other end, but it never actually happens, and as I said it is normal when it does... IYKWIM?

Shitty shit shit, am I just a moaner? I just feel so wiped out, to the point where I even had to stop half way to school to get my breath and stop myself feeling sick, the school is across the road, not an hours walk away.

DH rang from Tesco, the chemist woman told him they're not over the counter but can be found on the shop floor, he has gone up and down the aisles looking for this Spatone stuff and can't find it. I will have to get some in town tomorrow, if I even make it, am seriously worried I'm not going to be able to walk to the MW's from town.

How crap do I sound?! T'is a good job I can laugh at myself.

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 13/10/2008 18:33

Thanks will look for it tomorrow

DH is home, I'm going to go back to the sofa and make noises for a cuppa I think!

Thanks everyone, it's much appreciated.

It says take two sachets for pregnancy - that wil maintin your iron levels if you dont get enough - as you are not well try 3 to begin with

luvaduck · 14/10/2008 01:24

make sure they take your blood tomorrow NJ!

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 14/10/2008 09:10

Thanks again

I have had some symptoms of pre-eclampsia (I was induced because of it last time) - I can't wee despite what I am drinking, have flashing lights in my vision, and I am starting to swell up (though only in my lower legs - not ankles - and my hands), can these be signs of low iron as well?

OP posts:
pucca · 14/10/2008 09:16

I just knew someone would say "you are pregnant" lol.

NJ i cannot believe you are 29 weeks already OMG! that is seriously scary how quick the time has gone...

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 14/10/2008 09:20

Oh no I'm not 29 weeks (mistake in OP) I am 28+ something or other!

It has gone very quickly!

They are doing nothing...

I sat and cried my eyes out (not something I make a habit of), she wrote it all down in my book, "very anxious - upset and crying" in caps, asked if I had help with DS2, and basically made me feel like I was wasting their time.

My BP is up, but not high, she wants me to drop a urine sample in "whenever you can go", and want's me back next week for a BP check, and I am supposed to just sit here till then, oh and "make sure I get plenty of rest" because obviously that is all I need...

Sorry I am ever-so-slightly pissed off.

Nat Book in to see your GP. The MWs are good with baby specific stuff but sometimes you need to see a Dr. Ideally a women Dr as they will take your low mood more seriously, especially if they've had children. I had see the Dr in the summer as I was feeling generally rough. Had a thorough MOT, bloods taken, etc.

Rapunzel100 · 14/10/2008 13:52

Sound like anaemia and general pregnancy niggles to me too!

I felt sick etc at 29 weeks with my DD2, she was actually laying across my stomach which was really uncomfortable but as time went on she moved round.

Floradix is a good natural iron boost. I use it frequently as i suffer from anaemia from time to time generally but dark chocolate and apricots do help also!Yum!

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 14/10/2008 13:53

GP is no use whatsoever, unless you need AB's. And there is no female GP there.

The thing is, I know the way she has flagged it all up in my notes, and the questions about help with DS2, she is thinking some sort of depression, but it isn't that. I am genuinely worried about the symptoms, especially with what's gone on today. I've been here before, and thy did nothing then until it was almost too late.

And that is the other thing, even though I'd told her how I was feeling up until yesterday (the thngs in the OP) she's not taken blood, or said anything about iron (I did get the spatone BTW), or a GTT, nothing. Like I said, she just made me feel like I was wasting her time. How dare I talk to her about my concerns? Y'know? I am so bloody I don't know whether to laugh or cry!

I agree with Rapunzel

I had exactly the same symptoms and was told needed iron....the tablets made me constipated but Floradix was much better.....

Your MW should take blood, that is not good. This happened to my friend and it turned out she was very aneamic.

I hope you can work it all out

suiledonn · 14/10/2008 13:59

Hi NatalieJane, sorry to hear you are feeling so low. I am nearly at 37 weeks now and felt exactly like you did up til a few weeks ago so maybe it will pass for you too. It was just the most debillitating tiredness I ever felt. After being up for an hour in the morning I felt like crying. I could barely walk from one room to another and I don't know how I coped with 2 year old dd for that few weeks. One day I got up though and noticed I felt a whole lot better so fingers crossed for you too.

ajm200 · 14/10/2008 14:02

Is she the only MW as the surgery or one of team that take turns to run clincs. We have 4 and they all do different clincs. One is useless and I always avoid booking appts when she is on. Just hoping she doesn't turn up for my HB.

ajm200 · 14/10/2008 14:03

sorry really can't type or read things back properly today.

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 14/10/2008 14:12

I'm not so worried about the tiredness/poss anaemia now, am more worried about the not weeing (I haven't been since I got up this morning, and have drank at least 4 litres since then), swelling, and the flashing lights. Given my history I was honestly expecting her to do something anything but not to just send me away with a pat on my back and tell me to rest FFS. I have been here before, had the exact same symptoms with DS2, I even went to the labour ward to get checked out (those who 'know' me will know I just don't do things like that) the only time they sat up and listened was when they caught my BP being high, they sent me straight to the hospital in an ambulance for a EMCS, even though DH was with me and we could have just gone in the car, by the time they did my BP in hospital it had gone back down, and they very nearly sent me home, it was only that the sample they got via a cathater in the end was showing a plus of protien that they agreed to induce me.

AJM, it's a team of MW's, about 8 all in all I think, you never know which one is going to be there, even the receptionist doesn't know which ones will turn up on the day to cover the MW clinic.

NatalieJane
I am 27 weeks and am exhausted and a bit breathless and apt to come over all faint for no good reason - had bloods taken last week and it seems that my iron levels are ridiculously low. Started taking Spatone last Thurs and am hoping it will kick in soon, as the fatigue is really starting to get me down. Think you should insist on having bloods taken to check - MW is being kind of irresponsible if you ask me.

Hope the Spatone makes you feel better. And that it makes me feel better...

ajm200 · 14/10/2008 14:18

That's a shame. I know that the lazy useless one does Wednesday clincs here. Have you been to the L&D ward this time round? Maybe try giving them a call explaining everything that you feel right now and see if they'll take you in for monitoring.

The not weeing is worrying if you have other signs of PE. I'm amazed that they didn't take bloods to be on the safe side.

This may sound daft but what happens if you sit on the loo trying to go and rock back and forth and from side to side. Baby might just be laying awkwardly and blocking the flow. Sometimes, I feel like my bladder will burst but only manage a drop, the rocking helps to get things flowing.

OoopsWeDidItAgain · 14/10/2008 14:25

I don't want to be the scary one as I'm sure it is just nothing.....but....the visual disturbances, swollen hands and legs and not being able to wee are classic pre-eclampsia.I had it at 28 weeks in my first pregnancy - and that was following a few weeks were I was so exhausted I could hardly walk - took me an hour to walk the 15 minute walk to work!! (am 26 weeks into my second pregnancy and paranoid about looking for symptoms all the time so maybe I'm just too aware of what it could be).
Can you ring the ante-natal ward at your local hospital for advise??

ajm200 · 14/10/2008 14:25

Actually, that comment is a little unfair. She is just very reluctant to take bloods, put off booking my HB visit as it needed to be done when she was covering my appt. Has cancelled twice when she should have been visiting me at home.. maybe she is just busy/distracted.

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 14/10/2008 14:28

Nothing happens, I feel like I need a wee, I go and try, and nothing.

She said because I was at term last time the PE started that it was very unlikely to happen so early this time. But how can she know that's the case with me this time? I know, even to me that sound's like I am trying to make myself out to be some sort of special case, but really, I'm not, I guess I just know the signs from last time. She could be right, it could just be a UTI or something (which is why she wanted the sample dropping in) but how am I supposed to drop a sample in that I can't produce? And, a UTI doesn't explain away the other things.

She never even began to address the other things. She was far too interested in telling everyone who reads my notes from now on that I am 'anxious'.

OP posts:
ajm200 · 14/10/2008 14:31

Call the L&D at the hospital or the monitoring unit if they have one.. they should see you and if nothing else, they should be able to reassure you. If you really aren't happy with your care, ask to speak to the head of MWs for your area and discuss it with her.

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 14/10/2008 14:32

OoopsWeDidItAgain, this is my problem, I know these are the signs, I've had them before, but what can I do? Like I said they took no notice last time till it was nearly too late, and it looks like this is going to head the same way.

OP posts:
OoopsWeDidItAgain · 14/10/2008 14:34

It may be more unlikley but it's not impossible as far as I'm aware. I suppose when (and if) you can produce a sample, at least she will be able to check for protein too.

Going back to bloods, I thought it was standard to check bloods at 28 weeks to check again for anaemia....certainly the impression that I was given at my last appointment....
