Hi, We have just told our 5yr old DD that I am pregnant, she is so excited, I was wondering can anyone recommend any decent children's story books about becoming a big sister?I have seen a Babbette Cole book called "Mummy laid an egg" ummm a little too grafic for my liking!

We also have 'Theres a house in mummys tummy'.My DD is only 17months but as it is rhyming she likes to sit and listen to it and point things out in the pictures. I bought it for £1 in Asda!!!

We had one called 'A Baby For Grace' by C. Birmingham(i think) It was a picture book with lovely illustrations. It would be perfect for a big sister.

I love "Mummy Laid An Egg"!
I learnt stuff from that book .
DD is only 25 months and loves it too.
No point in being squeamish about it all - good for them to grow up seeing the funny side IMO.

I agree, I think 'Mummy Laid an Egg' is perfect and I bet she is less squeaminsh than you!! Good way to give her info that she will ultimately need I think? Tho 'A House in Mummy's Tummy' is nice too - how about both?
