3rd pregnancy ... REALLY bad braxton hicks! ...

I nevre had one BH with my first, with my 2nd they started 2 weeks before his due date and i was in really slow labour for a week, completely bearable though then he came in just 5 hours on his due date.

But with this little madame I am 28 weeks and the last week I have been wincing with them!

Im not a wuss, I had both my sons without any painrelief so Im not being soft.

Im having them now.

Wondering If I should be concerned, am scared to 'be with' DH as I was getting bad ones after sex for a few weeks, but now they are just coming anyways I don't want to make them worse!

I had them regularly with ds2. Every night for a month I thought "this is it".

Are you drinking enough water? Sometimes being dehydrated can make them worse. Once I started drinking more water with ds2 they calmed down a lot.

Felt the baby engaging last night as well, and have had nasty cramps all day too.

got better this afternoon and now it's all kicked off again.

I'm 35+2 and can't believe this is going to go on for another 4 weeks. I had them from 32 weeks with DD but this time they started about 30 weeks and have been getting progressively worse since then.

I had read that they get worse with subsequent pregnancies; as do the afterpains

i've had them with my second pregnancy - never did with my first. for me whenever i get them i need to sit down and rest. it's that simple. i imagine with two other children you are run ragged - maybe you need to find ways of getting a bit more time to sit and relax.

Make sure you are well hydrated and getting enough rest. See your midwife to rule out a urine infection ( I had one without even knowing I had it, and it was giving me horrendous BH).

(I also never had a single one with 1st pregnancy. This time I've had them big time from 22 weeks -ish.)

I sympathise with you completely EwEC. People have been asking me how long I have to go since 26 weeks. When I said three months the stock repsonse was , I would have said more like three weeks.

Very tiring and made me want to hit people as I didn't think I was that big...just all up front.

The lady at playgroup asked me if I was in labour the other day (i was grimacing because of my SPD)

I said 'no i have 3 months left'

She said 'o..m...g... i wasn't THAT big when i gave birth!!'

Why do people feel the need to say these things to pregnant women? you'd think they remember the insensitive comments they must've received themselves and be a bit more.....diplomatic

I do remember from last time that it was much worse if I was dehydrated, and the hospital told me (even thry thought it might be early labour at 33 weeks) that I should aim for about three litres of water a day.....

....and be prepared never to leave the bathroom again

I'm in a similar situation Enchanted.
Bad BHs, HUGE nump (I measured myself yesterday and I was 40cm at 30 weeks ).
Saw hips.
Inability sleep.

Everyone keeps saying "ooh 30 weeks, not long to go" and I want to scream "10 weeks of this is an ETERNITY".

i've had them so bad they might actually be contractions for this entire week. to the point where i have to stop what i'm doing.

but they never hang around so i'm not worried.

i have had loads of BH with both my daughters, too.

am 36 weeks by scan dates.

Ummmm... clearly I meant bump not nump.

Ooh, i know, my SPD is reaching boiling point, my backs buggered, the kids have gone off on one at bedtimes and both end up in our bed and DH keeps letting the bloody kitten upstairs at night and its spends 4 hours jumping at my hair.

This might cheer you up; I had really bad SPD for ages (from about 20 weeks) and was wearing a support belt and full bump elastic bandage to little effect. Bub had been heads up at that point, but as soon as he turned at 32 weeks, the SPD all but disappeared!

the most sleep I get at the moment is about 45minutes at a stretch. I've ditched the clock as it is just too depressing.

just trying to get off to sleep is the problem, in addition to staying that way!

my right sinus is all bunged up in this gale and then whichever side i'm lying on gets bunched up till i wake up gasping for breath.

struan is all in front and he does my back like naeone's business.

I got some weleda homeopathic decongestant to test today.....so far so impressed. You should try some.

Struan is a lovely name btw.

We have been referring to my bump as Virgil; it's in real danger of sticking as we can't agree on anything.

we've got an excellent health food shop in toon, i'll go in there and ask.

aye, he's a struan. even the girls call him by his name.

It's good for bunged up babies as well (from 3 months anyway)

i wish he'd drop a bit because he makes me feel constantly full and slightly nauseated he's squished everything so far up.

can hardly eat a bite.

my brekkie still feels like it's there a couple of hours after i've eaten it.
