can i take medication for morning sickness if sick twice a day

I am 13 weeks am working part time and have a 2 year old.I feel awful most of the time somedays i am not sick at all others i am sick twice a day.Should i take medication

TBH if you have got to 13 wks without medication, I would try to carry on without (also I don't think any doctor would prescribe under the circumstances (you normally have to be at death's door in my experience)) - it should be wearing off within the next couple of weeks. I would try any get as much rest as possible as tiredness makes it worse and eat a little and often. Once I got to 13 wks I found this was the best. I had severe morning sickness with all 4 of my pregancies, hospitalised with the 2nd and had medication with 3 of them. TBH the medication did not stop the nausea or sickness, just made it easier to cope.Hope it gets better for you soon.

IMO, no. i think medication in pregnancy should be reserved for things like hyperemesis, where you are hospitalised for the sickness. hopefully, your nausea should start to wane in the next couple of weeks.

i have every sympathy, i was sick in my first pregnancy from week five - week 34 or so, pretty much 3 times a day every day and was nauseous a lot

in my second, i was sick once or twice a day from week 6 until 28 ..

it is horrible, and it is debilitating

definitely eat little and oftne, listen to your body and if you want to eat ice cream or whatever, eat it!

I had the constant nausea thing with my dd and i found the only thing that worked was sticking my fingers down my throat and making myself vomit. I'd have an hour or so's respite then at least.

I have it again this time but seemed to have trained myself to throw up whenever i need to which is always helpfull.

I've had anti-emetics in two pregnancies (metoclopramide I think), tbh it was completely ineffective.

I had hyperemesis when pg, in and out of hosp every few days, and the docs were still reluctant to give me anti sickness medication!! They are very reluctant to use them, and so I'm very doubtful you would be prescribed anything. so IME (did get them in the end) they don't stop the actual nauseau, just the vomiting, so you would still 'feel' the same.

I know it is awful but it will pass, just do as little as possible until it does!

With my first pregnancy I was sick five times a day and was refused medication. I was 9 weeks pregnant and going through hell.

My GP just gave me a lecture on thalminade. It is hell and won't last forever, although it can feel like forever. With my first pregnancy the vomiting stopped at 36 weeks.

I don't blame you for being a miserable cow - I was positively pathetic when I was suffering. Fortunately my mum was very good and helped me out a lot as did DH, taking kids to school and playgroups etc. Are you getting lots of help because it does make a difference if you can be pathetic and lounged around on a sofa all day - my mum was great (she had suffered badly with MS as well), kept making me sweet, weak tea and toast (if I fancied it).

It is horrenous and very isolating having severe morning sickness. It is something beyond normal pregnancy. I have a normal pregnancy this time so I can compare the two. I have no idea how I managed last time.

It is weird that I have not yet experienced it with my second pregnancy. In fact it has been fear of morning sickness that has made me wait until my first son is six and half before concieving again.

No dont have anyone to help dh is great and she is going to creche part time.Thanks for support everyone
