I'm rapidy expanding and am unable to find any maternity clothing which is nice, reasonably priced and doesn't make me look like a sack of potatoes! Can anyone suggest shops within London or on-line?

agree totally about the BM underbump jeans. Interestingly I've also got a pre-pregnancy pair of v lowcut TopShop ones which did much the same...but I seized on these, in hope of looking faintly sexy once more, only to realise that flashing my pants at one and all lacks a certain something when you're 6 months up duff...now gone back to non-preggie drawstring stuff!

Hi, has anyone heard of plus size shops that do maternity wear?

bossykate · 28/06/2003 19:51

hello ghost fans

would you recommend the ledbury road shop v. say, selfridges?

thanks very much.

Enid · 28/06/2003 19:53

Yes, they often have good reductions in the basement and the staff are really helpful.

prufrock · 28/06/2003 20:40

Not been to ledbury road, but anything has to be beter than the snitty woman in Selfridges Ghost section last Thursday night.
An alternative (also in Selfridges) is Lezley George - cross between Ghost and Isse Miyake Pleats please stuff.

bossykate · 29/06/2003 19:17

thanks, enid and prufrock.

If you don't mind nearly new, SueW already mentioned the maternity exchange website - and there's another one called 9 months and more .

Bossykate, as I know you are a SE Londoner, there is a discount ghost shop in W Norwood called Spirit (or Spectre??). It's where all the end of line stuff goes and the stuff that is left over when the warehouse sale is over. My old fashion editor let me into the secret! It's on the main High Street, close to the station. Everything is much, much, much cheaper than Selfridges!

bossykate · 29/06/2003 21:33

thanks for those additional tips, jodee and aloha.

Mums2Be in Kew, if that's not too far out of London...

hoxtonchick · 08/12/2003 16:15

aloha, just wanted to thank you for the tip about the ex-ghost shop. went down there today & got a lovely top & some trousers plus my mum's christmas present. the woman was v. helpful, & i think i tried half the shop on.... it's called phantom, btw. not sure the stuff would fit me when pregnant mind you...

aloha · 08/12/2003 16:25

Glad to be of service! If it fitted me, I bet it would fit you.... I was huge - it stretches with wear BTW, but shrinks back when washed.

hoxtonchick · 08/12/2003 16:26

hopefully i will be pregnant soon & can put it to the test

bossybaubles · 27/12/2003 20:15

hi aloha, i would also like to say thanks for that tip about phantom in w. norwood. went down there today and got a fabulous black dress. i went to the ledbury rd shop in the summer and was really disappointed, but the selection of stuff at phantom is much better and the prices are much more realistic.

Thanks Bossybaubles! I don't know about Vertbaudet maternity but I really love the children's wear, think it's good quality and stylish and returns are easy if you don't like the stuff or it doesn't fit.
