Cervical stitch?

Well i had a cervical stitch placed yesterday, after my cervix went from 3.4cm to 2.5cm in a week. All went ok ( though the actual op and epidural was a bit grim...don't know how you clever women do it!)

I'm now home in bed trying to rest and not worry about the rest of the pregnancy, even though my brilliant doc at St Thomas's seemed to think the stitch should work well

Anyone else had a stitch and have a positive story to tell me?

I'm 18 weeks and had 2 LLETZ biopsies in the past.

thanks!!

Kate

Hiya, glad to hear your stitch went well - I had one fitted in june when i was arond 15 weeks pregnant as my cervix began to 'funnel' (i lost my last baby at 20 weeks in oct so was sent for regular scans in this pregnancy).I found it really great because im now 33 weeks pregnant and my cervix is holding well, i know alot of people wont agree but i honestly credit so much to having the stitch because without it i probably would have miscarried again. Please try not to worry.....and take it easy

Just wanted to send my good wishes Kate - I think we've chatted in the past? You've got through the worst big now, so relax and take it easy

Did they scan you because you had the bits taken away ?

I have had 3 loops and am seeing my consulant next weekend about this, some people have said i'll get extra scans others have said i'll get nothing.

Hi Diege!

Yes we did speak before! unfortunately my cervix did shorten so ended up with the stitch. oh well....At least it's in now (i was so scared of the actual surgery) so now my next hurdle is my cervical scan next week to check all is ok. I have a feeling i will worry all the way through this pregnancy...

worzsel....i had 2 cone biopsies (one loop one needle) and so was being scanned every 2 weeks. It was actually a private scan i'd paid before this week that picked up the change, so was quickly referred for the stitch the next day. It's def worth pushing for the extra cervical length scans, and i'm sure with your history of surgeries, they'll happily keep an extra eye on you. Good luck!
