Im 32+ weeks and have mild period type pain. I dont need to take a painkiller or anything, its more of a constant ache that has come on. Can I just ignore it? The usual aches and pains of late pg?

I would ring your midwife just to check. I had mild period type pains the week before having Ds (2wks early) but didn't think anything of it. Sorry can't be more helpful.

At 38 weeks, what started as period type pains, became contractions very quickly! DS was born 12 hrs later.

For me too period pains turned into contractions, at 35 weeks for ds1. With ds2 I did have some very mild period pains earlier in the pregancy that weren't anything.

you should not ignore pain really, try to take a warm bath and a paracetomal and see if it goes off. if it continues or gets stronger, or becomes more contraction like then definitly call.. although some aches and twinges and BH are part and aparcel of late pregnancy.

Hi, mad4, I could have written that myself. I'm 33 wks and have been getting mild period pain. Did you ring the midwife? Any updates on this?

sorry been away for w/e at brothers wedding. No, they seemed to just trail off although i did get them again thursday evening.. Havent had anything since. If they were painful i wouldve def called MW as this is how labour started with ds but figured this was too early!

going through a v similar thing, in fact there are a couple of threads that I have started,

i am 37 weeks and also getting periody pains in my back -

i phoned the MW at the weekend and they asked me to go in to check for a UTI, apparently this can cause backache sometimes.

best to get it checked out.

mad4mybaby · 07/10/2008 15:29

hello again gem, do you think if it was UTI id have them all the time?

gem1981 · 07/10/2008 15:45

yeah you are probably right ....

my pains aren't a UTI - I am hoping they are a sign of things getting ready to happen soon.

[wishful thinking emoticon!!]

where is the pain is it low down ?

mad4mybaby · 07/10/2008 19:07

yes very low down at the front. I had ds1 at 38 weeks and now i think about it i had period type pains for the couple of weeks in the run up to it so it all sounds positive for you!
