Hi, I'm 5 weeks pg with my second baby, this time the sickness has started earlier but its nowhere near as bad as last time. Last time it was constant, this time its on and off. What did other people find. Does it get better the second time?

I know of a girl who had it terribly until 20 weeks with DS1 and now she is pregnant with DC2, around 5 months, and she has been fine this time. Doesn't seem to be any ryhme or reason to it. Perhaps second time the body is more used to being pregnant and flooded with hormones??

I've heard the girl theory too and apparently a study showed it was more common with a girl, but then look at my friend who had it terribly with her first son. I think it is just cruel and random and you don't know with each preg how you will be affected.

In my family we tend to be sick when pregnant with boys and just feel sick when having a girl. I guess it is just an old wifes tale but it has always been the case in my family.

I was really sick first time round (DS) and was off work etc for about 4 months. Second time it started up I was down to the GP for medication ASAP - I knew I wouldn't cope with a toddler as well as the sickness. Even with the medication I was still sick several times but don't know if it would have been better or worse (DD). I think I am prone to feeling sick in anycase - sea sick etc.

Thanks for the feedback, I had a boy last time so though.
I've been getting worried becuase morning sickness is supposed to be a good sign that everything is OK. I'm only 5.5 weeks but this is the point it got very bad last time.
