Hi All!!!

I know it's a lot of imformation but what i've read on the net is that this is quite common but no one really talks about it!! It's the right side mainly. I've not experienced ANY swelling at all anywhere else. It doesnt really hurt- might ache from time to time- should i be worried????

see your mw if you are really worrid but as far as I know its perfectly normal. I dont think there is a single part of my anantomy that hasnt swollen with this pregnancy!!
The only thing that might be a concern is if it is varicose veins from the pressure of the baby but as far as I know even that is just another joy we just make do with until after bday!!
woo hoo

i had this with ds, everything down there was enlarged and darker in colour, i even had one of the lovely varicose veins 2. it went after having him. ah the joys of pregnancy eh

Mine did this in both pregnancies, looked hideous and was really purple towards the end. Think it's normal and due to increased blood flow to the area and also weight of the baby.

Do get it looked at though if you feel it's not right.

I had this with DS4. Just one side. It was a form of varicose vein, my MW said it was quite common and that it would disappear after the birth, which it did.

Hope it's not too uncomfortable.

Yes both pregnancies and my perineum and labia and all returned to normal after delivery. And I did talk about it!

i had this a few weeks ago - turned out to be thrush even though i had no typical itchy symptoms....might be worth checking out??? i went to the dr for a swab, just to be on safe side....

yes but only with dc3. i have to say it felt very odd. i had everyone peering up me lol. no-one seemed concerned tbh, just interested in a 'not seen one like this before' sort of way. consultant just said 'try to rest' - with a 2 yo and a 14 month old? er, okay.
quite normal now though.

thanks!! Thats been really helpful. I know i'm not on my own! I've read it could be a varicose vein or even a type of hernia but this is my second child and i've NEVER heard of it before. At least now i know!!!!

I've got a dr's appt next week so i'll be showing my bits off then!! I remember when having my dd 5 i had no shame- someho during that time i've got it back! feeling a little nervous! Hehehe
