I was induced with DS1 on his due date it sucked, it was a very hard difficult labour, but with ds2 i went into labour at 37 weeks and had the perfect labour hadly felt a thing!

Charlee · 29/09/2008 14:08

Sorry i realised you sai with the first 2 babies but i though i would share anyway.

[Charlee waves to NJ and MamaG from her old postnatal group ]

CarGirl · 29/09/2008 14:09

Sorry I was induced with all 4 of mine!

DD1 - 42 weeks
DD2 - 42 + 2
DD3 - due date (big mistake nearly failed altogether!)
DD4 - 42 weeks, but was absolutely fantastic 2 pessaries and she popped out 5 hours after the 2nd lot, official labour 2 mins would do it all again tomorrow.

I went into labour twice on my own after been induced twice .

With my eldest dd's I was induced at 37 weeks (both times) once with the gel and I had a 12 hour labour and the second time I had my waters broke and had a 5 hour labour.

My younger dd's I went into labour first thing in the morning at 38 weeks and had her in six hours and my last dd was born at 39 weeks I had had niggling pains all day and went a bit caavewoman and hid myself away for the day ,we went to hospital at 7pm and I had her at 5 am .

HTH good luck.

CarGirl · 29/09/2008 14:12

MamaG I do think it sometimes depends on why you were induced the previous times and when you were induced.

I am obviously meant to have 42-44 week pregnancies.

escape · 29/09/2008 14:17

yes, I was determined.
I was induced with Dd and DS1
They wanted to induce me with DS2, (for nothing more than 'convenience') but I knew it would be my last and just wanted to experience going into labour.
Still miffed that my waters have never broken on their own though.
always wanted to be somewhere very public and dramatic scenes ensue, but twas not to be.

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 29/09/2008 14:21

Yes MamaG, I have two induction badges under my belt, am caught between wanting them to induce me again, and wanting to experience it from scratch...

Thinking about it, going to sleep one night and waking up the next morning with the baby all clean and dressed next to me would be better all round methinks.

MamaG · 29/09/2008 20:48

Cargirl - agree, my MW said to me that I obviously just have long pgs (gah) and she expects I will again. I can't imagine going into labour IYKWIM - like escape I'd secretly like it if my waters went in a spectacular fashion!

NJ - yes there is something ot be said for htat isn't there...!

To be perfectly honest, I have no great yearning to go into labour on my own - if I get to 42 weeks I'll be induced happily

1st baby, 18 days over, laboured spontaneously

2nd induces 14 days post dates

3rd induced dut to probs term

4th induced early due to probs

5th, spontaneous labour 17 days early.

It's not over till tthe fat lady sings (so to speak)

CarGirl · 29/09/2008 20:53

I have to say the best thing about being induced at 42 weeks was knowing the day you were going to give birth!!!!!

liahgen · 29/09/2008 20:54

am not being induced for #6 as twill be our last and want to do it all naturally.

MamaG · 29/09/2008 20:58

Yes I agree cargirl - nice to know you won't be any later than X date isn't it!

lihagen when are you due?

CarGirl · 29/09/2008 21:01

I just decided that as I couldn't have a homebirth at past 42 weeks I would be induced then plus my placenta at my 42+2 was a bit gritty and yucky and she was 10lb6oz so then they were panicking about blood sugars etc to uder 10lb was preferable!

liahgen · 29/09/2008 21:02

not bloody yet

ttc at moment. Still bf 17 mth though, i've given it 2 months on waking up feed only but still no period, so this weekend i'm stopping

I am getting on a bit so can't wait for mother nature any longer, and if i wait for madam to self wean, she'll be going to her leavers ball.

very sad at stopping but excited at doing it all agin.

pushchair · 29/09/2008 21:03

Induced at 42weeks with dds 1+2. DD3-at 41+ something was booked in to have an induced labour onthe monday, had asweep friday, waters broke sat, went into labour sun eve and she was born dramatically 1am mon morning. Best birth experience of the three if a little nerve wracking.[nearly didnt make the hospital]

MamaG · 30/09/2008 12:34

sorry lihagen, thought you were pg

ooh pushchair, where I live they do a sweep at 41 weeks . They didn't do that at my old health authority, just the bog standard induction so it would be nice to get started off with a sweep, as it were
