Hi,

I'm just looking for some advice - at work at the moment and nobody here knows i'm pregnant so freaking out a bit and need some advice!

I'm 7 weeks tomorrow - this is my third and i've never come across this before so hope someone can reassure me.

Since i found out i was pregnant havent 'done the deed' at all as feeling very tired. However this morning felt better and we did - sorry TMI!

Anyway went to loo just now and when i wiped there was a small amount of blood. Do you think this is just the result of being a bit too vigorous (sorry) or this just a coincedence and there is something else wrong?

Have only just been contacted by a midwife as there was a mix up by the drs surgery so i dont have contact details for her yet. What would you do?

Hi,

This happened to me too, my midwife said it was that the blood vessels in the cervix are a lot more prominent when pg and easily knocked through sex, causing the bleeding.

Hope you're okay xx

Has there been any bleeding since? Can you ring your MW via GP

funkybumps · 26/09/2008 11:47

Had spotting like this at 7 weeks also. Was told not to worry if it stayed light as it is very common around this time. I actually bled on and off all the way through my pregnancy and DD was absolutely fine.

Try not to worry, I would say it's prob due to having sex.

If it gets worse though phone your GP just for your own piece of mind xx

Thanks for your replies - just been and checked again and there doesnt seem to be any more at the moment.

If it gets worse this pm I will have to try and phone the doctors - only problem is my cousin is a receptionist there and we havent told family yet - have to hope she doesnt answer the phone!

Thanks again

Hi, I had this happen LOADS with my 3rd pregnancy. No matter how much reassurance I got, I freaked everytime.

It turned out I had a cervical entropion (NOTHING to worry about). It's basically where the lining of the womb starts to grow on the cervix (the exposed bit), due to the nature of this tissue, it's very prone to bleeding, and is often triggered by intercourse.

My DD turned 1 last week!

Good luck, try not to worry x x

Hi,

I've eventually spoken with my doctor and he's arranged for me to get an early scan on Tuesday.

I'll now have to tell work as I havent got any holiday left.

Going home now to rest for the weekend and hope no more bleeding - thanks for all your advice

Can you not just say you have a hospital appointment? Will they want to know what it is for? I have always told my boss and HR manager the first time I have a pregnancy related appointment when I am pregnant. I just find its easier that way, and I don't tell other people until later on. They'll not question it if you have to have several appointments either if they know you are pregnant.

HeinzSight · 26/09/2008 16:40

petal has is got worse?

SpangleMaker · 26/09/2008 20:38

Petal,

Hope you are ok and have had no more bleeding.

I've had (red) bleeding/spotting every few days from 6 weeks to now (nearly 9). Been for a scan today and all fine, nurse said slight bleeding is very very common at this stage and is often caused by a cervical erosion - basically in pregnancy the cervix gets engorged with blood and is quite sensitive. If it gets worse and there is cramping, call your GP, but if not then it's most likely absolutely fine.

Bad news is, she told us to avoid sex until at least 12 weeks

BTW could you tell work you have a dental appointment to avoid questions about hospital/doctors? This is what I've done.

Good luck for your scan.

Sorry just got back to the computer - dr has told me to take it easy for the next few days so I went to bed early!

Thankfully no more bleeding and no cramps so fingers crossed everything is ok. Spangle i dont think my dh will want to come near me for a while as it has worried him a lot as well!

We are a very small office so I will wait and see how things go on Monday and decide whether or not to tell them

Thanks again for your messages

Petal - I had light spotting from 51/2 weeks to 10 weeks (I'm now 12 weeks). In that time I had two scans (doctor thought I was going to miscarry) and everything appeared OK (Just a bit nervous now cos have 12 week scan on Mon!)

brettgirl2 · 27/09/2008 12:38

BTW I was told by EPU that bleeding was common up to 16 weeks.

petal68 · 30/09/2008 11:57

Hi,

Just to let everyone know who kindly answered me the other day - I have been for a scan this morning and all well!

Saw the heartbeat and got a very tiny photo of the 'bean' which is spot on for my dates.

Thank you all for your reassurance.
