Aches & Pains around C-Section Scar - 2nd Pregnancy

I had to have an emergency c-section with DD and now after 2 years am pregnant with my second. I am 17 weeks and for the last 2-3 weeks, have been experiencing aches, like a pulled muscle around the scar/lower tummy area. It's not an acute pain and is more noticeable when I've been sitting/laying in one position for a while.

In addition to this, I get a very occasional slightly pink discharge every other day or so. It isnt bleeding and the pink tinge is only just noticeable.

Has anyone else experienced similar? I have worrying thoughts about the scar tissue not holding up for the next 5 months??

Hi MrsOCD, firstly congratulations, secondly poor you, it's always so worrying isn't it? I am now 27 weeks, ds is nearly two. I haven't had any pain to speak of but the scar has played up and been itchy as anything to the point of painful to the touch. Internally I know what you mean about the pulling muscle thing, escpecially on standing after sitting for a while. I think it would be a good idea to speak to your MW and make sure they have a look for any scar tissue at your 20 week scan just to be doubly sure you're fine.

I would imagine it's just the usual aches and pains of pregnancy that come with looking after a toddler and not getting as much rest etc. I've had 4 c-sections and experienced various aches and pains including acute pain in my right side (I assumed this was scar tissue not stretching very well). My consultant at the time of my 4th c-section believed that everyone panics too much over c-sections - in my area they say no more than 3 are recommended and his record is 6 !!

Four was enough for me and I was sterilsed at the last one. They also had a good look at my right side, muttered between themselves and said it was probably because I was small ??!!

Have a word with your midwife to put your mind at rest and best wishes for the rest of the pregnancy.
