Best maternity hospital in the Amersham (Bucks) area?

For anyone who lives near Amersham: what's the best maternity hospital around here? I've heard various reports on Wycombe and Stoke Mandeville. What about farther afield - Wexham Park??

Thanks for any advice : )

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Wycombe is obv the nearest - SIL had her DD there and a good experience although her DD is 6 now so things may have changed...
Don;t know about Stoke, or Wexham Park tho. (used to live in Chesham)

I had my ds at the birth centre at wexham park last year. It was a lovely experince, beautuiful, clean, homely and and i managed (just barely )with only gas and air and a water birth. The aftercare was also great.
You can only go to the birth centre if your pregnancy has no complications, and you opt for a natural birth ( i.e no epidural).....
Good Luck....

Thanks - Ash80: is there a traditional hospital next to the birth centre in case there are any complications? Also do you know if the dad can spend the night after the birth?

Vitality- There is a traditional hospital attached next to it, incase of any complications. Which was great for peace of mind.
Unfortunetly dads cannot spend the night.

I'm in CSG so very near you. I've heard lots of good things about Wexham - the distance is probably about the same as getting to Stoke. It isn't a problem to sign to it, the facilities are much better than Wycombe.

My last two have been home births so although I was signed up for there, never needed to use it apart from scans. One hint though, try to get your bloods taken at Amersham rather than Wexham - the phlebotomists are better.

The phlebotomist tip made me chuckle - thanks weblette! Sounds like Wexham is the place to go.
