just want some reassurance really - yesterday when I got up I felt completely different - my bump feels higher (it's been pretty low till now and very 'out front' and my centre of gravity is better - ie I'm less 'waddly'! has anyone else noticed this? I don't remember it being this pronounced with dd1. there's lots of movement from baby still, so I'm not worried on that score. I remember reading that the fundus (what a brilliant word ) gets higher just before it dips at the end as the baby's head hopefully engages - but I really can't remember this from my first pregnancy.

I don't know much about this, but have you thought that the baby has just changed position. My 3rd baby was in the footling breech position and just before I had her she changed to the normal head down position and my bump looked completely different. Just a thought.

AngieL, you could be right. she was head down last time I went to see my GP..I can't feel any large hard curved bits like when you find their back/bottom..hmmmm

bundle - Angiel is right - the baby has probably just changed position. It is not unusual for second/third (etc) babies not to engage in the pelvis at all, unlike your first, which probably did. Subsequent babies can remain 'high' until delivery, then do everything all at once!
Sometimes women feel these major movements, which result in the baby adopting a totally different position, other times they happen at night, so go unnoticed. Whatever, don't worry! Their position is really academic at the moment - plenty of time to move yet.

thanks Leese. the change was really life-enhancing, so I feel less like I have a pineapple lodged between my thighs! last night in bed I felt lots of tapping on my cervix..but I'm not sure if she's actually breech, or just having a good look round. still lots of movement though, so I'll probably wait till my 34 wk appt next week to raise it..I'm also having an extra scan so we can have a really good look
