I am 20 wks pg and have had a nasty tummy bug for last couple of days - think it was something we ate. Bad diarrhoea and not much appetite - I haven´t seen my doctor yet but wondered whether this could be affecting the baby and should I force myself to eat??

No, baby will be absolutely fine, just look after yourself, rest and keep sipping fluids.

If you are at all concerned, talk to your gp or pharmacist, but ime there is no danger.

Poor you, I had a bad stomach bug at 10 weeks, felt horrendous.

I had a vomiting bug at around 12 weeks and was really worried, my friend who is a midwife reassured me that baby is well protected and as wherethewildthingswere has said keep sipping fluids as it's important to keep yourself well hydrated.
Hope you feel better soon.

As long as you're not really (ie repeatedly) sick you and the baby should be fine. If you vomit a lot it might be best to get checked just to make sure you're not dehydrated. In the meantime make sure you drink lots of water. Hope you feel better soon.

I think if the vomiting and diorreah get "violent" you need to be monitored and you can't take anything like immodium.
hope you get better soon x

Hey
I'm in the same boat. At 16 weeks pg, after about 2 months of mild diarrhoea (once a day) which I associated with really bad morning sickness, I've just been told I have got an uncommon bacteria infection that usually clears up after 1- 3 weeks. I'm quite upset. Now I don't know if I recently contracted it or have had it for ages, if it made my sickness worse or was the cause of my vomiting. In another way it has provided relief that I've not just been a wimp and have a reason for feeling wiped out and having a gurgley tummy.
I have been worrying today: Has this made me more tired? Has it passed to my developing baby. Will it go away....
I'm sure we'll be fine. I would just check with your GP in case its a longer lasting bug than others - just so you know..
Hope you get well soon
x
