Would you eat a casserole made with red wine when pg?

Not me! But I've got some friends coming over and although I know it wouldn't bother me as all the alcohol is cooked off (isn't it? I will cook it for 2 1/2 hours) I thought I'd check general consensus. Perhaps this should be in food ...

yes

PavlovtheCat · 15/09/2008 18:48

I would eat it if I was pg.

themildmanneredstalker · 15/09/2008 18:48

yes of course

McDreamy · 15/09/2008 18:48

Yup!

Spidermama · 15/09/2008 18:49

Yes. All the alcohol gets burned off.

compo · 15/09/2008 18:49

yes of course

Pannacotta · 15/09/2008 18:50

yes!!

spicemonster · 15/09/2008 18:51

Oh phew! I've bought all the ingredients and suddenly had a bit of a panic!

yes I would.

But people are different. And some people are really careful about what they eat when they're pregnant.

I'd ask.

Or look for a thread tomorrow...

Well I feed my DC bolognaise made with a whole bottle of red so I really do hope it's okay
Have never really thought about it before [double ]

NorthernLurker · 15/09/2008 18:51

Spidermama - i think you meant boiled off didn't you? If it's burnt off nobody will want to eat it!

To the OP - yes of course!

missblythe · 15/09/2008 18:52

I would. But then I'd also join you in the kitchen for a glass of the leftover stuff.

Ready4anotherCoffee · 15/09/2008 18:53

yes! all the alcohol will have evaporated, leaving the yummy juices

CountessDracula · 15/09/2008 18:55

yes of course

Oblomov · 15/09/2008 18:55

Of course. All alcohol will ahve evapourated. And even if it hadn't, a tiny bit of wine when pg is not a crime. Should be encouraged, I think.

norkmaiden · 15/09/2008 18:55

yes, definitely.

WinkyWinkola · 15/09/2008 19:02

Yes. I'd eat it happily. I'd have a glass of red wine to accompany it too.

LackaDAISYcal · 15/09/2008 19:10

hell yes...and to a glass on the side as well.

frazzledoldbag34 · 16/09/2008 13:34

Absolutely yes!
Sounds delicious....mmmmmm

whatshallicallDD2 · 16/09/2008 13:35

Yes. It would not even occur to me to hesitate.

AHB238 · 16/09/2008 14:27

Yes and I am being really careful this time!
My daughter was stillborn at fullterm 6 months ago, I am pg again now and being even more careful than last time.

The alcohol would be cooked out of it, so you would just be left with the flavour.

Snaf · 16/09/2008 16:06

Yes, absolutely, nothing wrong with that at all. I'd probably ask you to save a small glass for me as well

apricotcake · 16/09/2008 16:10

yes for sure - one unit a week is fine, the recent update of guidelines to no alcohol when PG was just to simplify all the confusion and really play it overly safe. So enjoy it esp if it makes you happy and relaxed - gotta be good for baby too, and I'm a GP!
