Been prescribed Cyclizine for vomiting. Any experiences???

Am 17wks PG, and still vomiting daily, sometimes evening too. Dr prescribed these pills twice daily - she said they'd help with my increasing insomnia too. Anyone else used these???

Yes I took them 9-11 weeks pregnant. For most people it made them sleepy for me it kept me awake the first week then it got better - however, I often react weirdly to drugs. I was given it x3 daily.

I've been taking Cyclizine since I was 12 weeks pregnant (am now 20 weeks) but have managed to only take one a day. They have helped enormously with the nausea and vomiting but they dn't tend to make me ant more sleepy (but then I am only taking one a day instead of up to 3 like prescribed. I hope that they work for you too.

Thankyou both for that. Was a little concerned as Dr reluctant to give me anything at first, but seemed to change her mind when i burst into tears! Will start them tonight, but so knackered this eve that i really hope they don't keep me awake like they did for you tapster, or will be a liability at work tomorrow.

I took them from 6 - 12 weeks 3 x day

it helped the vomiting and made me drowsy.
I stopped taking it this week and still feel sick and wretch on a morning, but have stopped vomiting.

Casper - I was signed off from work for 8 weeks in total due to the nausea and vomiting. Don't make yourseld go into work if you don't feel up to it.I stupidly did when expecting my first and got no thanks for it. Make sure that you take it easy and drink as much fluid as you can face (easier said than done I know). I really feel for you about crying in front of your GP - it tookthis to make my GP realise that I was really struggling and was admitted to hospital because of dehydration and large ketones in my urine.

Thanks all. *Blondie79 - your message rings v true. My Midwife & Dr both offered to sign me off sick for 2 wks - but i only work 2 days a week, & there are some days when i can cope, others when i can't, and i'd feel guilt ridden if i felt ok on the days i was meant to be at work. My job isn't great for the nausea TBH, but i'm there to make up the numbers on the day people are at college, & i'm the only trained assessor there, so really feel i'm letting them down if i can't be there. I'm sure you didn't need to know all that!
Anyway, going in tomorrow & will tell them i'm gonna give the tablets a wk to work, and then if no better will have to get signed off i think.
Have taken my 1st tab - do they take a while to work???

Hi Caspar - I do understand the work situation but you really have to put yourself first sometimes.

As for the tablets I found that they worked very quickly although I had been on a dip for 24 hours and was rehydrated whih made me feel better anyway (it was kind of like a kickstart).

I do know that they don't work for everyone but I think that there are alternatives.

Well, no vomiting today! Felt human for the 1st time in a while. Coincidence, maybe, but just nice to be able to eat breakfast. Didn't feel drowsy, either.
Work are aware i may still need time off, but will wait & see.
