Pregnancy

How do you not overdo it with 2 children under 3 and 34 weeks pregnant?

I am 34 weeks pregnant and have a DS (nearly 3) and DD (18 Months).

I have been having horrendous braxton hicks which over the weekend became back ache, period pain cramping which left me doubled over. Lying down helps and after a while the pains go. But when i get up again after about 10 - 15 mins i get lots of BH which leads to the cramping again.

Is this me over doing it (like i have a choice with 2 toddlers on the run!) and i just need to rest or something more serious?????

I had a lot of Braxton hicks in my third- all the way through, but I was never doubled over in pain- I think that should be checked out tbh.

I am going to go and get it checked out now by the Dr but and slightly concerned that she won't certify me to fly back to the UK next week which is where i HAVE to have the baby.

I had lots of aches and pains when pg with dd2 but put it down to chasing ds who was 3.2when dd2 was born and also had dd1 who was 12mths. However wasnt bad enough to leave me doubled over in pain so would get checked out.
did either of the other 2 arrive early?

Are you sure they will let you fly at 35 weeks? By the way I had very strong Braxton Hicks with my second (about 1 whole months worth)and was told I was 1 cm dilated about 2 weeks before the birth...and she popped out in 2 hours..........good luck and yes, start to (try) to take it easy.............

I knew someone who flew back from China at 35 weeks pregnancy. You have to take anti DVT measures, the doctor should advice you.

You really need to get the pain checked out by a doctor though - it could be something very easily treated such as a urine infection - a urine infection gave me pain and BH at 34 weeks gestation, I was given antibiotics and was fine. DD1 born at 40 weeks.

I've had v severe BH from over-doing it, much worse than my first pregnancy. I also had really bad doubling over abdominal pain. The doc diagnosed pelvic girdle pain but I'm more inclined to go with the midwife's diagnosis of stretched ligaments, it felt more like that sort of pain ifkwim. But i have no idea how you stop over-doing it if you've got 2 little ones. Could your DH take time off work to look after you until you fly back to the UK? And will you have family here to help you when you get back? Oh, and definitely get the pain checked out by a doc. Definitely

Wow, this could be me too. Would I get more symptoms with a urinary infection, or just the abdominal pain/backache/BHs?

Good luck barefeete - hope you get back to the UK.

Are you drinking enough water? BH can get worse if you are dehydrated. I find it difficult to remember to drink enough when running around after one toddler (let alone 2!).

Thanks all, Not dilating at all. prescribed medication to stop contractions or the pain of them. Toddlers now in day care for 3 of the 4 days till i go and DH taking time off to help in the afternoons. BA let you fly till end of 36th week with a dr's note so that should be fine.

Still not moving around much as contracting lots but are definitely BH as they go when i lie down. Just need to rest for the next few days so i can get that flight.

all the best Barefeete - I hope you get some rest and get that flight! The stress of it all can't be helping very much.
