Hi

Was woken up about 4:30 this morning by experiencing some really shrap pains and they haven't gone away, managed to go back to sleep after a while but was woken up by them once again at 7:30, could it be babys is moving further into pelvis?
Don't think was braxton hicks as tummy not going hard with each pain!

erm dunno Gem1355, how far gone are you?

Toothache · 22/02/2005 11:48

Gem1355 - That sounds like the big stttrrrrrretch! Does it feel like a stitch? I got them a lot in bed as my tummy would fall to one side or the other ..lol!

I also got them when I had my UTI's! Have you had your results yet.... and are you drinking plenty water?

Gem1355 · 22/02/2005 11:53

I'm 34 weeks
Yeah got my results yesterday and no signs of infection, still drinking gallons of water tho!

It's not a stitch like feeling, it's cramps but on the left side hurt more when i got up to go to the bathroom and could hardly walk!

Could be the baby hitting a nerve in your pelvis or pressing on your cervix. These groin pains and twinges are rife from the stage you're at onwards coz the baby is putting on weight at a record pace!!

FWIW - I think your baby will make an appearance a week or 2 early.

Kelly1978 · 22/02/2005 12:02

I'm at the same stage as u, Gem and I get all sorts of odd pains and cramps. It amazing how much pressure a baby can apply with a carefully aimed knee or elbow.
If it gets too much I just get a nice bath to relax me and ease the aches, and if I'm lucky it shifts the baby around a bit too!

Gem1355 · 22/02/2005 12:06

Well i'd like it to make an apperance early!

Well my nan reckons my belly has dropped over the past week! freaked my mom out as she's decorating! + what with babys head being 2/5 engaged already!!!

Thought the pains might be baby moving down and banging head against my cervix wot a lovely child i'm carrying!!!!

Gem1355 - Just be thankful it's not the baby's feet!!!

Gem1355 · 22/02/2005 12:16

Yes that i'm very thankful for, don't like the idea of extra pushing

Kelly1978 · 22/02/2005 16:35

I've got the worst of both worlds, a pair of feet and a head both battling against my poor cervix! My bump also regulary moves up and down, I can tell from how much my boobs are resting on it It is all supposed to be good prep for labour anyhow!

Kelly1978 · 22/02/2005 16:37

Btw, is this ur first? I know first babies can start to engage earlier on than later ones. My dd engaged several weeks early, but was born 2 days over. ds didnt engage until labour.

Ameriscot2005 · 22/02/2005 16:40

Sounds like Round Ligament Pain - perfectly normal, and it's just your body getting used to the increasingly big uterus. IME, they settle down within a few days of first appearing.

Gem1355 · 22/02/2005 18:05

Yeah this is my first and i'm soooo uncomfortable, kelly i really sympathise with u!

Head has been engaged since 32 weeks!

What is the best way to get the baby to sit in a nice comfortable position?
As all day he/she seems very active and every where he/she kicks/punches really hurts.

Kelly1978 · 22/02/2005 23:13

If baby is engaged I doubt you are goin to be able to shife him to much, but I do find that leaning forward over something, on all fours can ease the pressure, or laying on my side. I think it's just a case of shifting the weight somewhere else for a bit of a rest!
I'm also a mean mummy and sometimes give them a push to make them move if they are right on a nerve or on my ribs. Poor babies!

Gem1355 · 23/02/2005 11:14

Been signed off now and have to go to physio but still have those sharp pains tho, so will start drinking raspberry leaf tea at the weekend etc to slowly help it on it's way!!!

hi,
I empthise with you and your pains, I have been having regular braxton hicks and really sharp pains on my ribs(right side) and not only when baby moves (37wks). I am 4ft 11in and the baby is not engaged yet so I think the we are both fighting for space in my body. A friend of mine suffered a broken rib from her first baby so I am going to lean over and let her(baby) have all the space. Maybe when She engages it will ease but for the moment it is constant. Gem1355 why dont you try Yogi tea they are yummy and really help me sleep, despite pain and leg twitches. You get them in Sainsburys.

Gem1355 · 05/03/2005 14:08

thanx tiny1, been getting regular braxton hicks now,i'm thankful baby's head is engaged so i have a little bit more room in there, but i think the baby will be long as both me and babys dad have long legs and i still get feet stuck up in my ribs!

Want to get some raspberry leaf tablets and i'll start to eat fresh pineapple as i'm 36 weeks tomorrow.

drank some choc horlicks last nite and slept quite well so will start drinking that before i go to bed at nite.

Had really bad pains last night and the night before. Honestly thought I was is labour, (36+4weeks). My stomach was hard all night and pains were about 30 mins apart.

Has anyone experienced a dramatic increase in vaginal discharge?

Gem1355 · 05/03/2005 15:15

yep! had that a few nights ago 35+6 weeks, still get it everynite.

I just pace my house when i get them!

Yep me too, just walk around to and from the toilet. Luckily my hubby is really understanding and I don't feel alone in all this. I feel sorry for him though coz I can at least catch some ZZZZZZZZZZs during the day but he has to go to work.

Oh well.

Gem1355 · 05/03/2005 20:58

Well i'm single mum-to-be so i don't have to worry about a partner. But i'm the same i try and catch up on zzzzzzzzz's during the day.
