So does EVERYONE who has their first baby early go two weeks overdue on the second?!?!

Or is it just the evil evil evil people I meet who keep telling me this?

Seriously - DS was a week early and of course I was optimistic that this baby would be too. But people do not like that (I'm starting to think there is a law against being nice to pregnant women) and are insisting on telling me their negative stories.

It feels like everyone I meet had their first a bit early then went two weeks over on their second and had to be induced with nightmare effects.

Somebody please please please tell me a positive story - am due today and for so many reasons including the obvious just wanting baby out and here I cant stand the thought of another two weeks...

Someone? Anyone? Has to be someone lol

i clicked on this having seen the heading, was going to sympathise but unfortunately don't have a positive story to tell you on this... so i shall just wish you luck for a good easy birth in the very near future!

StealthPolarBear · 05/09/2008 12:00

make an appointment for Monday
You will be bound to have the baby over the weekend that way
Good luck!

Mimsy2000 · 05/09/2008 12:02

nooooooooooo... say it ain't so. i had ds1 two weeks early. i'm 32 weeks now and am desperate to have this baby as early as safely possible. please don't tell me it will be late. i may literally explode.

CatIsSleepy · 05/09/2008 12:02

pgwithnumber3 · 05/09/2008 12:04

I had DD1 two weeks early and was induced 6 days late with DD2! Sorry!

LadySanders · 05/09/2008 12:04

ooh, stealth, good point, i made an appt for when i was as overdue as i could bear, and ds2 arrived the day before... i reckon that's worth doing.... trick the pregnancy fairy!

neolara · 05/09/2008 12:07

I had DD at 37 + 3 and DS at 37 + 0, so it could happen.

Actually before DS's birth, I rather obsessively asked everyone I knew who had had two children if both births happened at roughly the same gestational age. Apart from three people, all (about 40 mums) said if number one had been early so was number two, and if number one had been late ten so was number two.

Here's to a (relatively) painfree labour!

expatinscotland · 05/09/2008 12:08

i had dd1 at 38+6 and dd2 at 38+2

IdrisTheDragon · 05/09/2008 12:09

I had DS at 38+3 and DD at 40+4. So not quite two weeks overdue, but it felt like it at the time

Teuch · 05/09/2008 12:09

I'll tell you in December...

...or January

lucykate · 05/09/2008 12:09

both mine were 5 days early

bethoo · 05/09/2008 12:11

will let you know next month as 35 weeks now

jennieflower · 05/09/2008 13:57

I could have started this thread myself!

My DD was also a week early, I was convinced this pregnancy was going to be the same, but today is also my due date and there's no sign of anything happening.

Good luck waitingtobloom, I know exactly how you feel!

BecauseImWorthIt · 05/09/2008 13:59

DS1 was 37.5 weeks
DS2 was 36 weeks

Diege · 05/09/2008 14:00

My midwife told me that births tend to follow a pattern with individual women, becoming slightly earlier as you have more. Fits with my births (dd1 39 plus 6, dd2 39 plus 6, dd3 39 plus 5).

waitingtobloom · 05/09/2008 14:43

Thank you for your replies - realise nothing means anything and she will come "when shes ready" (another annoying phrase lol). Its just nice to hear a balance for once rather than the horror stories!

Another few days I can deal with. Another two weeks - I dont think so and she will be in trouble when she comes out lol.

Saying that would you want to come out in this weather????

ds1 4 weeks early. DS2 10 days late.

Medowflowers · 05/09/2008 14:44

thats less than 2 weeks

pedilia · 05/09/2008 14:45

DS1 was a week early, DC's 2&3 both came on their due dates and DD4 was also a week early!

JodieG1 · 05/09/2008 14:46

Dd 4 weeks early, ds1 2 weeks early and ds2 a few days early.

pippylongstockings · 05/09/2008 14:56

Ds1 two week early - much like you I was convinced that it would be early like this 2nd time round.

Due date came and went - the MW came and did a sweep the day after my due date and my DS2 was born the next day! (I also had sex,a long walk and very hot chilli that day and just for luck a clary sage bath too!)

Good luck.

Neeerly3 · 05/09/2008 14:58

i hope not, had my twins 11 weeks early, so hope i go longer but not 42 weeks!

coolj · 05/09/2008 18:21

Just like to add my tuppence worth. My DS1 was 3 weeks early, DS2 3 days late, DS3 15 days late. Im now pregnant with my 4th. As my pregnancies are getting longer I dont know what to expect now, 4 weeks overdue (not).
Who'd be a woman!
