Hi, I was wondering if anyone could give some advice. I am only 7 wks but for various reasons am thinking of having a CVS this time around which obviously is a big thing to consider. My periods in the last 12 mths have ranged from 23 - 30 days and I think my LMP was approx the 17th July, although I am not sure for def...

Where I have enquired I have a choice of having a CVS at what would be 11+6, if you base on a 28 day cycle or leaving it to 13+6. I know the CVS can only be performed from 11+3 so am I cutting it too fine for the 1st option. They have booked me in for the 11+6 but what if my dates are slightly off. This is all new to me so any advice would be gratefully received.

Hello, I had mine at 13 + 6 which was apparently the last possible date! The consultant I saw prefers to do them later. I guess if you went earlier and it wasn't possible due to size/dates, they would at least have the option of postponing it. Good luck.

Hi Greenlawn, Thanks for the reply - Where did you go for it?? I am looking at the FMC in London.

I had mine at the Lister, Stevenage - on the NHS. The consultant there was excellent, I had no problems at all. I believe the FMC is very highly regarded, I'm sure it will be fine. Though the wait was worse than the process itself!

You shouldn't have it before you could be 11 weeks as there is a possibility of fetal abnormalities as a result so if your dates could mean you are less than 11 weeks I would go for the later date.

Can you tell me what the CVS was like? I am thinking about having one this time instead of an amnio (which I found quite traumatic).

mayl - Congratulations
I've had two CVSs at the Fetal Medicine Centre in Harley Street. I think you are in the best possible hands and they will be able to tell plus or minus a few days how far along you are, when they scan you. I would go for the earlier date as you can always go back at a later date if you are of insufficient gestation.

Good luck.
