I went to the doctors today because my skin is becoming unbearable, I've got huge horrible spots all over me back chest and shoulders, it creeping round my face and even onto my scalp and is getting worse everyday. My doctor said i have pregnancy acne and that it will disappear once my baby is born. Im not due until December and i recon i'll be a huge walkin' boil by then! I can't bear for my husband to touch me near the bad areas and i'm far too embarrassed to wear anything that exposes it. Its really got me down and I was hoping someone would be able to reccomend some lotion or something, the Doc says i'm allowed to use creams but no pills. PLEASE HELP boo hoo!

Ugh, it's horrible - I felt really cheated of the glowing skin I was promised.

What helped me was a session with the miracle worker woman at one of the make up counters in a department store. She found me foundation and concealer that matched my skin and showed me how to put it on properly. I went for MAC, which admittedly isn't cheap, but there's plenty of other options and if you play the pregnant lady card you should get some good advice. OK, it's not the best thing for sorting out the spots but for me it meant I could go out/to work without wanting to wear a bag on my head. And I got to learn how to make up my face properly, instead of using teenage techniques involving ancient mascara wands.

rrrayray, it was quite obvious that alittleteapot didn't mean any malice. She was just stating that whilst some have great skin throughout life but don't whilst pregnant, she is the opposite. Irony it is called.

Hi everyone!

I am 11weeks pregnant and have awful acne on my face. I have always had oily skin but this is beyond ugly!! I have been using dermalogica skin care range for almost 10 months now but I htink it no longer has a effect. I have just cjanged to a new brand which I found on the net, it's all chemical free no nasties the website is www.lerosett.com i'll let you know how that goes!

Be careful with products that you nuy in chemists you want to stay clear of anything with salicyic acid in as this is part of the aspirin group and when absorbed by the skin it can thin your blood. So check the label!

I am also a fan of sudocrem aswell although it is quite greasy. The body shop do a great tree trea face mask aswell.

Diet wise eat almonds, brazil nuts, goji berries (Innocent smoothies do one with goji berries in) avacodo's are all good for skin health.

Im keeping my fingers crossed it will go away soon!!

sAR0607 i think that the anount of salicylic acid absorbed would be minute. anyway, small amount of thinning blood wouldn't do much harm - in fact i had to take a tiny dose of aspirin every day while pg first time round

dermalogica no longer working on my skin either though - i used to love the daily microfoliant

my skin is TRULY awful this time round too which is so depressing-- am 12 weeks. really want to go for facial but can't justify expense. want to buy eve lom again but soooo expensive. have any of you seen or tried www.theoilcleansingmethod.com?

If it makes you feel any better I had awful spots at 11 weeks but by the time I was about 16 weeks I had the clearest skin I had ever had in my adult life.
