Full moon and labour

Does anyone think that the full moon (or absence of the moon) influences the onset of labour?

I am due on the full moon in April and hopes she works in my favour!

well i guess we will have to wait and see!! is this your first? it is mine. I have just read up that the moon does affect hormones and feelings etc so seeing as a large part of giving birth and pregnancy is connected to that i guess it must have some bearing. If i get anything more conclusive i'll let you know. x

yes, first time for me.

My gran lived near a mental hospital when I was a kid and she said the patients were always more active on the full moon.

I hear that the police are busier on the full moon.

lots of traditional societies plant and harvest according to the phases of the moon.

then with the menstrual thing - why not labour?

it has long been thought to have a weird effect on people... the word lunatic comes from lunar (moon)!!!
a friend of mine also works on a psych unit and says there is a definite change in the patients on a full moon...

i'd be interested to see if you both pop on the 24th!!!

We were discussing this at after my aquanatal class today - my due date is 25th March which is apparently a full moon. One of the girls was saying that the midwifes are supposedly always much busier when there's a full moon. Will let you know!

I don't know about a full moon, but somebody told me that when it snows the MWs are much busier!!! Is is still snowing in the UK?
