Is Measles dangerous for a 27 week pregnant woman ?

We were supposed to be visiting my sil for this bank holiday weekend.
But she phoned to say that my nephews son has measles. He is only 1.5
So shall we not go ?
I am 27 weeks. Plus ds is 4.7 and starts school in a few weeks. He has had MMR and all immunisations, but I don't want him catching anything.
Shall we not go ?
What do you think ?

Measels is one to avoid.

From NHS direct: "If you catch measles during pregnancy and you're not immune, this may result in a miscarriage, stillbirth or pre-term (early) delivery."

I understand that even if you have had MMR, you may still not be immune, because my doctor took bloods to check my immunity before we started to try to conceive.

I would definitely stay away, unless you know you are definitely immune, having had the check very recently.

I'd still stay away though, personally.

Go nowhere near them. The risk to your baby is too great.

Don't go. There is a risk to your unborn baby and also a risk to your ds despite him having had the MMR. As I understand it (and dh is a Dr), for the MMR to work properly, enough children have to have had it to induce 'herd immunity'. If insufficient numbers of children have it - as has happened in recent years, measles can pop back up again and can infect children even if they have had the MMR.

A family friend caught measles when she was preg. Her daughter who is now in her 40's is deaf, blind and severve learnings difficulties. Its so sad as now her parents are older they cant look after her anymore so she is now in a home.
