Received my blood results back and my Rubella was positive - does this just mean positive to antibodies or does it mean I have rubella? I guesss not but just want to check as my next appointment is not until March and can never get through to midwives by Phone?

I'm not a midwife but I've had a quick look at my own results, and I had the result "Rubella - present" which meant that I was immune (or at least had the antibodies present). So I think that it is an anti-body test and therefore you shouldn't be at additional risk.

HTH, but hopefully one of the mw's can confirm later.

I agree that it sounds like you've got antibodies to rubella..can't imagine anyone sending a result which indicated you actually HAVE it without explaining ! try calling your GP.

Lulu41 - don't panic, this just means you're immune as the others pointed out! your blood tested positive to rubella antibodies - you do not have rubella.
The blood test is only designed to check for antibodies, not to check if you actively have rubella (this is different). If there were concerns re: actual infection, a different blood sample would have been taken, and a different test requested.
Rest assured, you do not have rubella!

Thought that was the case but thanks everyone for confirming it for me xx
