I'm a nanny, am 20+6 and tonight we found spots on my 18 month old charge. Not entirely sure it's the pox, but if it is am I right in thinking the baby's safe because I've already had chickenpox?

suggest you call NHS Direct now for advice so that if you can't work tomorrow you can call your employers early....

My understanding is that there is no problem if you have already have had it (I came into contact when pg and that's what I was told by my GP)

glasgowgal · 18/08/2008 22:41

If you have had it, you will probably be fine. Also I read that it is most serious if you get it in the 1st or 3rd trimester so it should be ok. But do as lingle says and check, preferably with your own doc. My 2 dcs had it when I was pg with no.3 and GP told me I would be fine but that if I did get it, to go and see him for some injection you can get to stop the severity (? vague memories). I was fine and I was in 1st trimester.

I'd call your surgery as your gp might want to do a blood test to check your immunity. If you have already had it you will probably be immune, but some people can get it twice (like my DH! but thankfully not me!).

I got it twice go to gp to check your immunity.
