I am very interested in getting it done, but have NO idea howor even if I can as I am givng birth in an NHS teaching hospital.

Hi I'm having mine donated to the NHS cord blood bank, which means it can be used for anyone rather than one of the private companies which will take and store it just for your own use. Its free but the disadvantage is that not every hospital is able to offer the service.
