does gender effect morning sickness?

I have 3 girls and am now 6 weeks pg with my 5th pregnancy (m/c in jan).
I have had morning sickness with all of my girls but this time it is so bad that I have had to spend the last two days in the bed. I'm not actually throwing up (and have not done so in the past either). But the feeling of nausea is so strong and so frequent that I find it really debilitating. Far far worse then with my girls.

So I just wandered if those of you with more than one child had experienced this when having babies of a different gender.
Thanx

I had very bad morning sickness with dd1, constant nausea and vomiting for 6 months. With dd2 it was slightly better.

Now pregnant with db3, don't know whether it's a boy or a girl, and although am still experiencing nausea at 7 months, it's not been nearly as bad as with the other two.

So far my experience shows that gender doesn'"t matter!

no

I say this as someone who worked on a hyperemesis (severe sickness in pregnancy) helpline and had it with 4 boys

The nausea is the worsdt, there are ideas n the bloomng awful webste that migt help?

I have heard is that it is worse with boys. Which may because boy babies apparently require slightly more nutrition in the womb than girls and, before the placenta is formed, that nutrition is leached straight from you, causing morning sickness to be strong. Having said that my mother was hospitalised with hyperemnesis (sp?) when pg with me, and my sickness with ds was never as bad as that.

Bluebutterfly · 17/08/2008 07:53

So, I meant to add, it is probably an old wives tale...

belgo · 17/08/2008 07:57

yes it's an old wives tale because I've heard that it's baby girls that cause the worst morning sickness!

CantSleepWontSleep · 17/08/2008 10:01

Doesn't make the blindest bit of difference.
No morning sickness with either sex for me.

I did a poll on here a few weeks ago as I was stuck in bed with hyperemesis following an admission to hospital.

General concensus was girls but only slightly.

Hope you feel better soon.

I felt better at about 9 weeks and am going back to work tommorrow

sazm · 17/08/2008 11:16

oh well i've had hyperemesis in my 4 pregnancies, 2 boys and 2 girls, and its been just as bad each time, im much better this pregnancy tho(my 4th) the antisickness pills actually worked and im actually feeling pretty normal at 24 weeks lol!

jellybeans · 17/08/2008 11:23

I was sick with all my girls and not with any of my boys, even my twin boys.

Peachy · 17/08/2008 21:56

my sister and I had hg 6 times between us- boys

my other sister never had it- boy

my mum never had a days ms- girls

caramelbunny · 18/08/2008 10:03

My mum had 3 girls then 2 boys. Had ms the worst with 3rd girl and was sick through entire pregnancy. She was a huge fat baby though so guess she stole all nutrients!

lollipopz · 18/08/2008 10:29

I had no ms with dds and terrible ms with ds.
Now expecting db4 and feeling nausea on and off
Think its just different ecery pregnancy!
