Does anyone know if you can eat basil safely in early pg? I know you can't use the essential oil, but what about a nice tomato and basil sauce?

Googling gets all the answers from no to maybe to yes! I have loads of slightly soft tomatoes in the fridge and want to make a tomato and basil sauce... Please? Anyone know the answer?

I have never heard that you can't eat basil when pregnant

yes. all herbs you use for normal cooking are fine in PG.

yippee! Thank you. I feel sick all the time, but I really fancy this sauce on some pasta. But not at any risk to a pg that took such a long time coming!

It's fine, as with all salad vegetables and herbs you just have to make sure they are well washed.
