ok, never mind the fact that i am crippled with severe spd and on crutches while looking after ds 2.6, my real worry is that we have just heard that dh's godson's christening will be at the end of september. i will be 8 months pregnant by then and as this is more than likely my last pregnancy really don't want to spend much on something that will only be worn once. I do, however, want to make some sort of effort as I am already feeling fat and ugly (due mainly to my immobility and constant pain) so by then i will probably just be wanting to hide away.

any suggestions for something stylish but inexpensive, suitable for late pregnancy greatly appreciated.

could you buy something beautiful and easy and dress up and downable from isabella oliver [is their sale on?] and then sell it on ebay. I sold my isabella oliver dress fvr 75% of its cost, was delighted.

alternatively this topshop number is nice

oooh, fab ideas thanks mazzy. i really like the look of that topshop dress... may well order it this evening once ds is asleep. i love the isabella oliver stuff too so shall have a look but probably still feel funny to spend so much so late in my pregnancy.

I've heard of naughty people leaving the label in, wearing the dress once then taking it back as they don't want to be stuck with it as it just isn't going to fit later.

I've never had the guts to do it myself though. I'd look guilty before I even got to the shop

oh goodness, me neither. am an appalling liar. besides, i have an extremely messy toddler and not a day goes by that i don't end up smeared with something nasty so could never get away with it even if i wanted to!

what about this? I've got this and its really roomy, I've worn it with black and white trousers.

Or...monsoon. I've only got 3 weeks to go but big wedding tomorrow (why oh why have all my mates decided to get married while I'm huge and cant take advantage of the bubbles!) Anyway....sale on, got a great dress for £30, cut under the bust, cotton and loads of room for babs.

Jumping in on this one I have a problem with 3 weddings and a family reunion this summer, the last one is end of September when I'm expecting to be huge!

This site is excellent, I got a skirt and top from there and there's loads of growing room but they didn't look oversized when I was still relatively small. There's a sale on now too if you're quick!!
