any advice? a moses basket is too big and would really look silly in the office
its quiet and risk free in here (no chance of falling objects or people walking by)

Um - are you thinking that you will be able to work with a newborn?

girlsallaround · 05/08/2008 14:26

samonsite pop up travel cot?

you really taking a baby to work?

AnotherFineMess · 05/08/2008 14:27

Filing cabinet drawer (a la Brittas Empire )

wannaBe · 05/08/2008 14:28

work with the baby in the office is a bit of a joke isn't it? let's be honest here - not much work is going to get done is it?

wannaBe · 05/08/2008 14:28

am assuming it's your own business though. Can't imagine there's an employer in the country would allow an employee to bring baby into work and quite rightly so imo.

SixSpotBurnet · 05/08/2008 14:29

Oh well, hats off to you! None of mine was that sort of sleeper .

And DS2 and DS3 grew out of the moses basket very quickly, so I really don't know what smaller receptacle would be any use for more than a week or two.

Good luck, anyway!

Thisismynewname · 05/08/2008 14:29

How about keeping it in a drawer like the receptionist in the Brittas Empire?

SixSpotBurnet · 05/08/2008 14:30

If you have room for it - my DB and SIL had a lovely sort of hammock thing for DN when he was a baby which was great because you only had to give him a very little push to rock him to sleep - much easier than rocking to sleep in a pram.

girlsallaround · 05/08/2008 14:30

my dh is my boss! he sits at the office across from mine. there are 2 other offices and four other people at desks in our area, and about 175 people in the company in total.

i brought dd1 and dd2 to work in their first few months as well and yes, i have to take things slower since its hard to type and breastfeed, and it takes time to change nappies etc, but otherwise, it was fine!!!

at no maternity leave though

I have to say I was never happier than on maternity leave

juuule · 05/08/2008 14:35

I tried this when my ds1 was 12w. Got a job working from home, Every time I settled down to do some work, he woke up. Kept this up for around a month and then finally gave in.

girlsallaround · 05/08/2008 14:35

sixspot, thanks but i dont use the hammocks since i'm always wondering if they won't get used to the rocking to sleep.

thisismynewname i'm actually looking for practical advice

I am so impressed that you had two babies who didn't need rocking to sleep .

Ah well, all water under the bridge for me now, mine are 9, 7 and 4!

SixSpotBurnet · 05/08/2008 14:38

What about a carry cot?

juuule · 05/08/2008 14:39

So you want something 'office looking' that's for a baby I think thisismynewname's advice (without Brittas ref) is probably the closest you'll get.

Otherwise the samsonite pop-up thing. But I think they're about the same size as a moses basket.

What about a from birth pushchair? -too big?

wannaBe · 05/08/2008 14:40

presumably though if you've done it before you already had a solution for the other two?

juuule · 05/08/2008 14:41

Good point, wannabe.

RusselBrussel · 05/08/2008 14:41

What did you use for the other two??

wontbepreggersagain · 05/08/2008 14:41

a bigger office

RusselBrussel · 05/08/2008 14:42

x-post with wannabe

ilovemydog · 05/08/2008 14:43

what about the cocoon from Phil and Ted's?

juuule · 05/08/2008 14:43

carry cot like this?

zippitippitoes · 05/08/2008 14:44

what was wromng with your previous solution

SixSpotBurnet · 05/08/2008 14:45

That Vertbaudet one is just the sort of thing I was thinking of.
