any advice? a moses basket is too big and would really look silly in the office
its quiet and risk free in here (no chance of falling objects or people walking by)

Very decadent to buy new kit for DC3, though .

nooonit · 05/08/2008 15:09

Which pram / pushchair do you have?

Is there a carry cot type thing you could use with that?

How would a flattish bouncy chair type thing work?

Thisismynewname · 05/08/2008 15:16

Sorry girlsaround, was only joshing.

wontbepreggersagain · 05/08/2008 15:20

it is possible to work with a newborn baby! I am SE and went back to work two weeks after my twins came home- they come to work with me every day!

wheresthehamster · 05/08/2008 15:29

Can't dh have the baby in with him if he's got a bigger office. And just bring the baby in to you for feeds?

lou031205 · 05/08/2008 16:05

Can't DH give you his office?

Twiglett · 05/08/2008 16:08

wow

and lol at xenia mask

I'd just pull out a drawer tbh .. make it comfy with pillows and stuff .. I've never seen Brittas .. but honestly don't see the issue with that .. just don't shut the drawer

CantSleepWontSleep · 05/08/2008 16:16

But if most babies outgrow a moses basket in a few weeks, how can you put them in something smaller than that?!

So you are relying on the baby either feeding or sleeping the whole time? No playing or stimulating at all? Woe betide you if your third turns out to be like my dd was!

girlsallaround · 05/08/2008 16:30
  1. i have the bigger office!
  1. dd1 i was at another office that had couches and we would put two together and make a nice soft bed
dd2 i had a large office and brough in my m&p pliko pushcair which has a great, comfortable, large and v useful cot, however this pushchair is far too large, heavy and useless and i would like to sell it and use my dd2's mclaren techno for dd3
  1. i want something that is not a cot or a pushchair! i will drive to work and put dd3 in a sling on the way from the car park in, and then want something cute but practical to put her on, so that she is not jus ton a blanket on the floor.....
  1. dd2 was a very good baby and that made it easier than with dd1. with dd1 i had to take more breaks.
i can go out for walks with sling when i like or need and come back in for work when baby is sleeping or restful
  1. my dh will have her in the office too dont worry

I saw a baby beanbag with a harness on in the Argos book, looks quite small, and obv safe as it has a harness. Other than that, why not just leave a buggy/carrycot at your office? I know you say you don't want one ( not sure why though?) but it would be more comfy for your baby tbh

its not that i don't want a buggy, i just dont want the m&p one, it doesnt even fit in our car anyway so couldnt actually bring it here.
wasn't planning on buying a new buggy, was planning on using mclaren techno, which i think wont be so comfortable for baby?

do you have any advice on a buggy that will be comfortable to sleep in but is also fairly lightweight?

OP posts:
MamaGLovesMe · 05/08/2008 16:48

A bean bag is good but if the baby is going to be spending hours at the office it really needs proper support so a pram/carrycot.

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 05/08/2008 16:51

quinny do a buggy which has a removeable carry cot attachment1 i think its the buzz version they look lightweight.

try googling lightweight travels systems/4 in 1's and see what comes up?

Jackstini · 05/08/2008 16:53

Can you do a link to the baby beanbag Fluffle or tell me what page? Thanks

Neeerly3 · 05/08/2008 16:57

girlsallaround, I'm intrigued, do you get paid the same wage as before when bringing the baby in? I assume you will effectively be doing less hours if you are having to stop to feed or take baby out for walks - how do your colleagues feel about it? Not picking just interested - i would have LOVED to have forgone full time childcare costs and broughht my boys into work with me, but there would have been no way i could have worked a full 8 hour day inbetween feeds and cuddling and stimulation. all credit to you.

My sister had the bean bag with the harness for her little one instead of a bouncy chair - much more supportive, but not exactly lie flat, so not sure i would leave a newborn in it all day....try here

Neeerly3 · 05/08/2008 16:59

beanbag here can get em cheaper so google doomoo

girlsallaround · 05/08/2008 17:09

the first 6 weeks i take a proper maternity leave - although with dd2 i was working on day 3 while she was sleeping but from home, and after 3 weeks my bum hurt from sitting on the floor (no office desk at home just low coffetable) so went to the office

we work in a company that makes baby products so it is more understandable than if i worked at a male grooming product firm...

about the work hours, it depends on they baby. with dd2 i worked 3/4 days until she was 4 months old, and then when she was too awake and i had to get back to working full days, i started going in to the office most days without her.

with dd1 i used to work in an office where my sister and mil worked and they would babysit and share the baby entertaining with me so i kept her there for about 8 months!

now i also have dh who can take dd3 some of the time.

if you work efficiently, you can get about 75% of your job done in 50% of the time, or less, when it gets too much, its time to go back to work full time and leave the baby at home....

i had a look at that doomoo beanbag. do you think its better than a baby bjorn bouncy chair?

I wish I could take my dd to work with me. You are so lucky.

How about getting a pram with a carrycot. We have a Mutsy 4rider and the carrycot is fab. dd sleeps in it in the day and sometimes at night. My friend has the Britax Vigour and the carrycot on that looks slightly bigger then mine.

Would be good as you could push dc into work and not wake them if they are asleep then.

laura325630 · 05/08/2008 17:25

Sorry, just read that you dont want a pram! Have you seen the new car seat/carrycot that Britax do - Baby sleep safer. Im not sure if its out yet but you use it as a car seat but it is a carrycot. You could put it on the pushchair to get into you office then fold up the chassis??www.britax.co.uk/index.php?option=com_britax&task=showproduct&id=64&groupid=4&Itemid=31

ButterflyMcQueen · 05/08/2008 17:28
