Anaemia

Got back from hol to letter from midwife to say that I'm anaemic. What do they usually prescribe and what is LEAST likely to make me constipated?!

Is being anaemic likely to cause the nosebleeds I'm getting? Also is there any connection to the stitch type pain I keep getting under/to the side of my bump (painful enough to make me want to sit still!)

I didn't have anaemia in pg but did have a lot of nosebleeds - apparently that's due to the increased blood circulation and dilation of blood vessels making the pg woman more prone to nosebleeds

Not sure about the treatment - prob just a course of iron pills....they don't always make you constipated though. I was aneamic pre preg and was fine on the tabs

As for the pain - sounds like Braxton Hicks to me!

Sod the iron pills, get yourself down to Boots and get some Spatone and some orange juice. Two sachets each morning and then nothing else for half an hour, did the trick for me and I was seriously anaemic. Iron pills just made me vomit.

heard that too about the nosebleeds, am hoping that's all it is. doesn't hurt or anything, just looks dramatic and is costing me a fortune in boil washing white bed linen!

don't think pain is braxton hicks as it's constant...any other suggestions? It's driving me potty.

been on holiday in Devon, lovely time but what is it with MILs?!!!! She drove me BANANAS....fuss fuss fuss fuss....producing chocolate from her handbag when I'm trying to give dd cheese sandwiches at lunch....refusing to acknowledge that suncream may be a good idea....offering to babysit while we go shopping when I get back in the afternoon realise that dd hasn't had a new nappy since breakfast.......telling me that taking dd swimming is daft.....oh and all sorts of nonsense about forgetting my birthday/forgetting that I was there when ordering rounds in the pub/forgetting I was there so not laying a place at the table for me...and I swear I'm not being precious mum! if I wasn't pregnant I would be sinking a VERY large glass of wine and having a really good rant!

DS is lovely. DD is being a little sod. Screamed for several hours, and I only went and split my sodding scar as well playing footie with her. Then got told off by DH for not taking painkillers, but I couldn't stand up to reach the (locked heavy duty metal) medicine cabinet I insisted was fitted to prevent accidents .

Hatcam - I had a bad cold a few weeks ago and I've slipped up and not done Billy since...oh the shame of admitting this to you....

My friend had very very bad pains in her tummy once when she was pg and she was convinced it was early labour or something. Turns out she had very strong stomach muscles that were being stretched during the PG and were protesting...so, maybe worth getting that checked out? She had physio for it too...

I'm from Devon btw lovely place but sympathise re MIL issue....mine is coming over from the Middle East on Wed...FOR A MONTH!!!!!!!
