6 week scan?

Can any anyone tell me if you have a six week scan when pregnant? I though it was just 12 weeks and 20 weeks?

I've had one Hamkin, but that was because I'd previously had a mmc.

Yes normally just 12 and 20 weeks.

Any partiucular reason for your question?

12 and 20 is the normal (depending on where you're are - it can just be 20). Any before 12 weeks is just usually for people who are high risk or have had problems ie- cramping or bleeding. I had 1 at 6 weeks due to cramping.

thanks. someone i know has just told a relative she's pregnant and is having a six week scan. It's her first baby so was just wondering if things had changed since i had my DS. Have not had chance to speak to her yet. Perhaps she has had cramping etc.

12 and 20 wk is normal.
u usually have a 6 wk one (which is earliest u can have a scan) if mmc previously or if someone is worried and asked for one privatley

I only had one at 7 weeks as I had pains in one side. I also had one at 12, 20 and 34 weeks!! 34 week one was because I had a low placenta. 12 and 20 weeks is normal I was just sort of lucky to see my dd 4 times!!!

I had one at 6 weeks, but I had a previous ectopic, and this was check that the baby was in the right place this time.

I had one because we had trouble conceiving and the fertility unit needed to confirm pregnancy before discharging us.

I had a 6week scan, but that was because I thought I had had a miscarriage.

Or, at least, I had had a + test, and then a few days later half a day of bleeding, and then at the GPs a test was still +. So, he sent me to check whether there was anything there, or whether it was a false result because of miscarriage......

Just a blob with something flickering in it on the screen.

Very weird because the person doing the scan at the hospital had no idea why I was there, so just very calmly and matter-of-fact said (to quiet little 23yr old who did not actually think she was pregnant in the first place, and had just had her period- ie, no miscarriage!), "ah, look, there's the heartbeat, and I'd say you'd be due on the 15th June".... calm as you like.

Slunk back to poor unsuspecting (now husband) partner and told him the news.... he did not speak for 3 days. The shock, you see.......
