how long do babies generally last in the carry cot part of a pushchair?

Just trying to work out what to do dc in for naps in the day for first few months as if im anything like i was after ds was born i couldnt walk up the stairs unaided for about 8 weeks so want it asleep in the day downstairs. Was a bit anti buying a moses basket as i know they dont last long...

Its either buy a travel system that comes with carry cot or get one of those little pop up ones you can get (dont have room for a travel cot) wouldnt want to leave it asleep on sofa/floor as ds is only 2..

i used a bouncy chair quite successfully until a year old.

carry cot part of pram was a waste of time, only in it a few times before she wanted to see out at approx. five months.

carry cot definitely lasts longer than a moses basket and you can use it outside too!

I have a cosatto mobi and DD sleeps in the carry cot bit of it at night. We bought a moses basket stand for £15 to put it on (checked at the shop that it was stable enough, and checked directly with Cosatto that it was okay for her to sleep in for full nights). In the early weeks, I had the whole shebang downstairs as had CS and coudldn't manage the stairs too often.

DD now sleeps in her big cot in her room during the day but TBH she probabaly only has about another month to go in the carry cot as she is getting quite big (she is 3 months tomorrow)

Carrycot lasts longer than moses basket. We certainly got our moneys worth out of ds in the carrycot it was his day and night bed we did what DonDons did and used it on a moses basket stand and it was sooo easy to just lift the whole thing onto the pram to go out, take dd to nursery whatever.

DS was on the bg side of avarage and we used it daily for 6 months but I did use it once when he was about 9 months to take dd to bonfire wrapped him up and popped him in so he could sleep cosy.

I think from the POV of having another child it was fab because there was no disturbing ds to move him from one bed/cot to the pram to go out anywhere jut popped some blankets on and went without having to put loads of jackets etc on. Gave me loads of freedom to come and go.

thanks now think i will get a carry cot travel system. What about those little pop up style moses basket type things are they any good?

I used mamas and papas mypod carrycotthingy for dd for a few months in house and a few months out too on pram, andgot it from saLE SHOP FOR £50 too for the 'case' and cushiony lining inside. As prev opshave said, you can use these in and out of house, but also when dd found cotbed too big, just took mattres sout and put her in the carrycot in the cot so she was not propped up on floor

oh ok. So are they stable enough to sit on the floor by themselves? Do they have a flat bottom i mean? I never got one with ds as my sister told me they were a waste of money and took up too much space! Now ive had a baby and know you need to go for easiness im not listening to her this time plus trying to get MIL to pay for it as present as she did pay for travel system for ds!

I had the bebe comfort one and it only lasted 3 months, so it is worth measuring up

my carrycot bit is stable enough to sit on the floor - in fact it has a lihtweight metal frame.

The mamas and papas mypod is a really sturdy solid plastic outer shell (it is also part of the pram if you want dc lying down so it has to be solid for outside use ) and the bottom is flat so you could just pop it on top of drawers or changing unit for first few weeks befre your dc works out how to roll or sit up in night! Dd was sat on kitchen table, room floor, cotbed base without the mattress and allsorts in her mypod thingy!
