I am 6 weeks pregnant. My Gp has just informed me that I will only have one scan and that will be at 20 weeks and that I wont see a midwife until I am between 10- 12 weeks.
Last time I had a scan at 12 weeks and then again at 20 weeks. I also had regular midwife appointments, at least monthly until the last trimester.
Has everything changed in 3 short years. ? What is norm now,?

Hi cori, in your position, if I wanted a 12 week and they didn't offer I would be temtped to try and 'beat the system.' Possibly that is a really irresponsible attitude, but I would probably be looking out for self. Hassle them. Cleverly. Enquire if they do early (12 week) scans for people unsure of dates / if you've family with chromosomal abnormalities / early bleeding etc.

Our private scans cost us around £100 each, but they were worth it. Some places are cheaper than others, one chap at work only paid £80 so it is worth finding out. We had our 20 week scan yesterday (even though it was 23 weeks) and it isn't as clear as the ones that we had much earlier on. Worth having a look into though, especially as it would put your mind at rest.
