10 movements between 9am and 5pm??

Went to the GP last week for a routine check (normal midwife was on holiday) and she said I should be feeling movements 10 times between 9am and 5pm. I'm 27 weeks.

I've heard you should feel 10 movements during the day but I always took this to mean roughly between getting up and going to bed.

Has anyone else been told this? Am getting a bit stressed as most of the movements I feel are well before 9am and well after 5pm!!

If you are working those hours, I doubt you will be feeling those movements, especially if you are moving around or in a stressful job.

I've never counted movements, but my babies have always moved a lot so I've never been worried about lack of movement.

And most of the movements I feel late at night in bed, rather then during the day. That's perfectly normal.

yes i usually feel mine when in bed as if you are up and about you can miss them. i feel mine in the moenign and at night, i am now 29 weeks.
when is your baby due?

theminxy1 · 21/07/2008 09:29

Thanks for the replies. The GP was saying about filling in a chart to show when the baby moves during the day.
As a friend of mine said, what do GPs know about babies anyway?

Am due mid October....still ages away.

my lo only moves when i'm resting so don't see how gp can say when they should be moving b/c everyone's day is different. in general they move when you rest and sleep when you are active - just keep an eye on those times.

my mw said that as long as i had 10 movements in 12 hours, it didnt matter what time i started or finished my hours, as long as it was the same 12 hour period every day.

I find getting kicked in the fanjo hard enough. I didnt realise I had to count and chart them as well
