Just wondering how soon people began to get symptoms! As we are ttc first, I am a total novice. Did you get symptoms before AF due? And anything I should be looking for other than sore boobs?! Thank you - all responses much appreciated!

Absolute bone crushing tiredness hit me at about 5wks. Had already tested a week previously and got a bfn, but I just knew I had to test again, and sure enough a bfp.

potatofactory · 21/07/2008 09:21

Yes - the tiredness! I went to bed straight after dinner for ages. Even sleepless nights with baby didn't feel so tired (not all the time anyway). And the period-pain thing. I was really fed up as I was ttc and assumed that my period was on its way.

emma2617 · 21/07/2008 10:10

Oh yes...overwhelming tiredness! I actually went to the doctor about it, and because I had only just had implant removed and DP has low sperm count so chances of pregnancy were minimal, GP started testing for thyroid functiona and allsorts! I still have the tiredness at 9 weeks!

Very sore nipples developed at week 7 and sickness at week 8, and I have just become really emotional...I have cried twice already today!!

hugglebug · 21/07/2008 12:41

Within days of conceiving my boobs started really hurting, like shooting pains. this for me was very unusual so I suspected something was up. Got nausea about 7 weeks pg- no sickkness. Then the tiredness started.

Nanoon · 21/07/2008 13:43

with DS1 i had a weird metallic taste in my mouth from the day AF was due. with DS2 i just recognised the slightly odd way i felt with both the nausea kicked it at about 7 weeks and lasted until about 14 weeks.

Nanoon · 21/07/2008 13:44

oh yeah and the brick wall tiredness.

Pinkali37 · 21/07/2008 14:03

Ooh, the first thing i knew was a postive pregnancy test! Had absolutely no reason to think I was pregnant (other than being completly obsessed and having shares in Clear Blue Digital Tests). I tested on day 27 and it was positive. AF was always dodgy as have Endometriosis and was on Clomid but thought het what the heck, lets use another one. Then a couple of days later I had what felt like period cramps and worried unbelievably as had a MC in the Oct. Then when on to worry cos my preganancy wasn't stereotypical. All I can say is if you are lucky enough to become pregnant don't worry if you do not follow suit with all the books, i.e. you will be sick from week 6 to week 12, you will... because I didn't and due to this I have had 6 early scans and my bloods re checked which all made the first 12 weeks of pregnancy HELL.... I am now 23 weeks pregnant and enjoying every minute! I wish you the very best of luck. x

Aaaw thanks pinkali37. Your early pregnancy sounds v traumatic. I hope the rest of it is problem free. Thank you to everyone who has posted - it really does sound like every single pregnancy is completely different! I hope one day to find out what it is like for me....

1st time: sensitive boobs and dizzyness, a few days after period due, but I wasn't sure as I'd had lots of false alarms (was ttc)

2nd time: (not ttc!): sensitive boobs, especially noticable when breastfeeding DS! I would describe it as a kind of fizzy feeling, not actual pain. And slight nausea after very rich chocolate cake.

1st time nausea (but not vomiting) lasted from about 8 till about 12 weeks, but 2nd time it lasted almost till third trimester. It felt like I had phlegm in the back of my throat all the time (sorry, tmi).

Very best of luck! Watch out for those egg-white days

Shaynesmum · 21/07/2008 21:31

malloo · 22/07/2008 12:20

symptoms I had before I knew - very grumpy and intolerant, ranting about stuff that wouldn't normally bother me. oh, and racing heart, thought I was just stressed!

GivePeasAChance · 22/07/2008 12:22

Strange smelling wee

dinkystinky · 22/07/2008 12:42

First time, v tired and implantation bleed were my first signs of pregnancy.

This time round, throwing an absolute tantrum at my poor DH for no reason, spots, tiredness and slightly achy boobs were the first sign of pregnancy... oh, and the desire not to drink any alcohol (most unlike me!)

RuthChan · 22/07/2008 13:11

I knew I was pregnant because we were TTC and I was taking my BMT every morning.
However, my first actual symptoms were being floored by tiredness and needing the loo more often.
Then the morning sickness kicked in and I was floored for about 2 months.
I finally got over it at about 16 weeks.

I'm now 23 weeks and feeling much better.

(To be honest, the pregnancy tiredness this time was worse than the tiredness from lack of sleep with new born DD!)

calsworld · 22/07/2008 17:02

I got my BFP only yesterday (yay!) after 6 months of TTC and tracked my 'symptoms' each month, writing it down made it easier to compare month to month to see if it was AF or BFP on the way.

Things that I noted this cycle are; watery CM, cramps, nausea, very tired - limbs like lead, cold when i'm normally a little furnace, headache, backache, moody and tearful, heartburn, windy, thirsty,

Also over-reacting to stuff at work and being a bit randomly stroppy, although knowing I'm pregnant will probably help control that!

macaco · 22/07/2008 17:32

Got BFP at about 5 weeks. Before that, so before I knew I was pregnant had total mind numbing tiredness and felt just like my period was going to start, quite bad period pain and some bloating. Sickness (puking everyday and terrible nausea) started about 6 or 7 weeks.
Good luck!

Boobz · 22/07/2008 19:47

Malloo - I had the heart racing thing - late in bed one night. Felt like I was on ecxtasy on something. Didn't realise it was a sign I was pregnant (hadn't done test by then).

Still no sickness for me and I am now 5+6. Lots of toilet trips though.

ellenjames · 22/07/2008 21:15

has anyone had tummy cramps i found out 1 week ago am pregnant must be about 6 weeks in and stillgetting cramps and am a bit worried.

Dondletella · 22/07/2008 23:12

I just knew

Lionstar7 · 23/07/2008 07:16

Boobs were very sore for ages - a different and more painful version of PMS sore boobs. I also felt very tired, slightly nauseous and spaced out. Sense of smell increased. Oddly, I also started having restless nights and waking up several times in the night.

chefswife · 23/07/2008 07:25

i was very very very very tired. could barely get my ass off the couch. DH would say it was when i opted out of morning coffee.

Anne76 · 23/07/2008 10:29

We'd only just started TTC, and I have a 3 week cycle so we figured it might take a while.... (shows how wrong you can be.....)

Started feeling nauseous the day before my period was due (had the sore boobs per usual but not the back ache I normally get), did a test on the day my period was due on the basis that it was a possibility to rule out before going to the doc's.
It was positive.

Then had really rotten nausea until around 15 weeks (although never actually sick) from 11.30 am until bedtime ("anytime except morning sickness")... plus a more sensitive nose than the average blood hound and a major aversion to all the stuff that's supposed to help... mint, ginger....

Given that pretty much every mother I know has had a different experience, I think it's fair to say it's different for everyone (and every pregnancy)... sorry that's not terribly helpful.

DonnyLass · 23/07/2008 10:50

Both times I had overwhelming fatigue within 3 weeks of conceiving ... I'm talking had to go to bed and literally slept for 3 days solid waking up and not feeling able to lift my head off the pillow.

Second time round I obv had a clue as similar to first time ... my mother in law said 'shall I get the doctor you seem quite ill' ... I said, "I think I am probably pregnant" ... I did the test a week later and was.

The 'just knew' thing sounds trite but for me this was the case.

Didn't really do nausea, boobs etc till 8/10 weeks.

rainbowbadger · 23/07/2008 16:06

I was a very principled veggie till one day at a BBQ I got a sudden craving for a spare rib on the grill and started gnawing it like a lioness - did a pregnancy test two days later .....!!!

Nutterofmum · 23/07/2008 21:31

I was tired with my first and I had SPD (Syphasis Pubis Dysfunction)from about 12weeks.

I am about 6 weeks now and apart from being really tired and a bit dizzy, my pelvis and pubic bone are already aching.

I pretty much knew I was pregnant before I took the test with both.
