Hi can people let me know their tips for getting labour started. My friend is 4 days overdue and is really desperate not to have to be induced like last time. Any ideas considered!!!

i ran up and down the stairs for as long as possible and I went into labour an hour later. Otherwise, I have heard, sex, pineapple, hot curry and raspberry tea.
Hope something works soon

if they have not had a sweep get them to speak to their midwife about having one asap. Also anything spicy, sex, hot bath, long walk all help!

Howl at the moon, it's full tonight (I've tried everything else)

nipple tweaking

or acupuncture..but with decent acupuncturist

Bounce on a birthing ball, mow the lawn, crawl up the stairs on hand & knees, have a sweep, mainly just keep active.

I would say avoid a hot bath until contractions are well established - what MW told me anyway!!

Good to your friend

Xx

Sex. If her DP isn't willing, suggest DIY

I thought this was about your friend.

If you are going to try and trick people into helping you deliver your baby prematurely, at least remember what you have said.

FabIsGoingToGetFit · 04/06/2010 17:38

This thread is very old and before I realised that I had assumed you started it Sarah.

fifitot · 04/06/2010 17:43

Bloody hell that's a bit harsh.

Lulumaam · 04/06/2010 17:46

i think asking for tips, on how to get a prem labour started is rash and insensitive.

the OP started another thread that I and others posted on

Lulumaam · 04/06/2010 17:47

sorry, not hte OP, but sarahwadd1984 started another thread about how to get labour going
whihc at 35 weeks is not to be recommended or encouraged
