Yeah, that sounds like it might be geographic tongue - it's mostly a thing that AIDS patients have. My tongue looked really weird, and was sore. I think it was fungal?

I never bothered treating it, my dentist had someone else look at it, but they felt it wasn't worth treating, iyswim.
