Can anyone answer a quick question about the pill???

Ok...i dont use the pill atm as i have the coil, but i was told i can use the pill as well to stop my period.
I'm going on holiday on 31st August and my periods due around 27th august but i want to take the pill so i dont come on as my periods with the coil are quite heavy.
So when should i take the pill to stop me coming on?

When you are on the pill, you take it for three weeks, then you have a week off, and in this week you have your period - technically it's not a period, it's a withdrawal bleed, but it looks like a period, acts like a period and feels like a period, so we'll call it a period.

If you don't stop taking the pill, you won't have that period.

So it dosn't matter WHEN you take the pill, as long as you don't stop for that week while you're away.

You should start your pill around about the time of your previous period, so the end of July - I can't remember if you should take it on the first day of your period (think you do, but not sure, it's been a while)

You shouldn't keep taking your pills for months on end without a break, but for things like holidays once in a while it's ok.

Its been a few years since i had the pill so wasnt sure, so if i take it the 1st day of my next period and keep taking it i should be ok.

should be fine but your doc will be able to talk you through it - I presume you will have to go to the doc to get some?

ive been told i can reduce my periods to 3 a year with my pill (microgynon) but have 6-8 depeding on how i think its effecting me, however, it may take a while for your body to get used to it so aug may be pushing it???

Take it the first day of next period, then run 2 packets together. Don't stop mid packet when you get back from holiday as it will mess up your cycle! I did it once and got bleeding for a month!
