Does anyone have a Mutsy? (yet another pushchair thread!)

I'm expecting my first in early September and am still dithering on the pushchair. Although I like the bugaboo chameleon a lot, I prefer the design of the Mutsy, the fact that it is a little less expensive and, honestly, the fact that not every other mum in central London has one...

However, having loads of trouble finding a store that actually stocks them to try out and am wondering how heavy they are, easy to collapse, etc. If you have one or have tried one, what do you think?

Most interested in the 4Rider, but would welcome thoughts on any of the models.

I've got one - the 4Rider. It is quite heavy, but v v easy to push, and collapsing is fine. Fantastic for us as DH is 6'3" and he can easily push it without kicking the back axle, and its great off road as the front wheels are fixed and you can fix all of them.

We have the carry cot which we used till DS was 4 months or so, and then used the seat, which we always use rear facing.

One thing I would say is that Mutsy are terrible on delivery times - I ordered mine when I was 23 weeks - it turned up 22 weeks later, and that was still without the carrycot. They may have got better since then though - DS is now 2.

I'm going to sell mine soon as we use a sling or DS walks now, so if you're interested Its anthracite.

I Have a Mutsy urban rider. My little girl appears to be very comfy in it. It handles well over uneven ground due to its good suspension. The large hood is very useful when the weather is miserable because it shelters the baby really well. The fact that the seat unit will recline to almost flat and it can face either way was a big plus for us. The down side is that it is very heavy, although easy enough to collapse. However, now that the weather is better and my lo is a toddler I have found that I tend to use a buggy when in town and reserve the mutsy for country walks.

Thanks guys - glad to hear about how good they are off road as we'll likely be doing a lot of country walks and I've read less than great things about the bugaboo front wheels in the mud. Has the weight ever made it a problem to get in and out of the car by yourself?

cmotdibbler I'll keep your offer in mind depending on how soon you're planning to sell it, but may also opt for a new one from the US as they're cheaper there and I can get one easily (and hopefully faster than you're delivery given how late I've left things!)

I also have a Mutsy Urban Rider, and would echo all the points mentioned above. The wheels also come off at the touch of a button, should you so need.

I like the fact that the basket, although not very large, has a firm base which means you can stand even fairly heavy stuff on it. My husband is taken with the braking system, which works on a ratchet principle and is very secure. In terms of delivery, ours was ready in six weeks, although that was in 2005 and we live in Germany.

Quality-wise we have found it excellent and have never had a problem. Size-wise, our daughter is now nearly three and still fits into it with room to spare. We have actually just decided to keep it for one more winter ?just in case? as you simply can?t beat it over the snow ?..

I've just been dithering, so would be happy to sell it now.

I can easily get it in and out of the car (but am fairly tall). The design does make it very easy to move around, in spite of the bulk.

The wheels coming off is great after muddy walks (straight off and into bin bag) and does mean that you can really compact it if packing the car up.
