Me! Well, apart from the last 15 minutes I guess. So perhaps I don't count since I could feel it then.

I got to 6cm dilated still thinking they were braxton hicks but they did start hurting after that!

maretta · 09/07/2008 13:02

Yes me. Same as older and wiser.

I had to be monitored after my waters broke - due to high blood pressure.

I said the monitor was so tight it was making me need a wee.The midwife laughed and said No that's a contraction!

Only had 10 minutes of painful contractions at the end so not sure if I count or not.

ilovemydog · 09/07/2008 13:03

I was convinced I just needed the loo, but was 8 cm dilated.

devonsmummy · 09/07/2008 13:03

I was 10cm by the time I told a midwife I thought I'd started having contractions

ok il try and be brief as to why im asking. I ended up in hosp yesterday )20 weeks btw) as ds (2) jumped on my belly and i was in alot of pain. Basically whilst i was laying on the bed waiting for the doc i was getting something they now say contractions but i will describe it and see what you think. Right at the bottom of my bump and around bottom of back like period pain it felt like my insides were being squeezed and almost like something was pushing outwards. They ended up coming every few minutes lasting up to 1 minute. I didnt need pain relief, just something a hot water bottle wouldnt fix you know?

When i was pg with ds i was put on a montior for something and when the m/w came in to check she said 'oh look at all these contractions you've been having' and i was like 'have i??' all i felt then was the same as above which at the time i thought was just the baby pushing outwards really hard.

Just wondering if you can have actual contractions and not hurt. When i went into labour with ds i felt these feelings all through the day but labour started after hind waters popped and contrations were agony one on top of the other, lasted 4 hours and ds was born...

Mine were pretty painless until my waters broke at 4cm dilated. The MW kept saying they couldn't be proper contractions if they didn't hurt , but they were off the scale on the monitor.

She kept saying "did that one hurt?" and "you must have felt that one" and other silly things, to which all I could reply was "it's like a period cramp, no more painful than that". She didn't believe me

lackaDAISYcal · 09/07/2008 13:07

cross posts. Those sound exactly like the BH contractions i had from about 30 weeks with DD. They had me in at one point as they thought I was in early labour as they were so regular......they bloody hurt though!

OlderNotWiser · 09/07/2008 13:09

Oh dear, worrying for you, all ok now I hope? But yes, sounds like Braxtons, they can hurt but dont necessarily. And as I said I did virtually have the baby painlessly so I guess thats possible too.

You got everything checked out tho?

Piffle · 09/07/2008 13:09

I had mild period cramps with ds1. Felt a bit sick, but no pain per se.
he came out 15 mins after I was sick. The transition felt weird and surreal but not painful at all, slight burning on crowning. Then nothing. Drug free birth and really quite pain free

mad4mybaby · 09/07/2008 13:47

the contractions have stopped but feeling quite alot of pain down either side which im pretty sure is muscular...

Wow it sounds wonderful

GreenMonkies · 09/07/2008 14:20

All my natural contractions haven't hurt, they were intense and "hard work" but they didn't hurt at all. When they hooked me up to a syntocin drip and put me on my back in stirrups they were excrutiating.

So Chocbiscuits, go and read "Childbirth Without Fear" by Grantly Dick-Read and "Birth Reborn" by Michel Odent, buy a birthibg ball and refuse to lie on your back during labour, and your dream of an essentially painless labour can be a reality!
