Chicken Pox

Do I need to be concerned about coming into contact ?

Have had a really worried text from MIL to say DN has chicken pox and it's quite bad apparently, she is supposed to be coming to DD1's party on Saturday providing they've all scabbed over and is no longer contagious.

I'm 35 weeks and have had chicken pox and shingles before so surely I don't need to worry about coming into contact ? Am I right in thinking that because I am immune baby should be fine ?

Yes you are right if you are sure you've had CP then there's no worries.

MingMingtheWonderPet · 08/07/2008 22:49

As I understand it if you have already had chicken pox then you and your baby should be fine. I was in contact with cpox while I was pregnant and all was fine.

Having said that i wouldn't want niece coming to party unless she is well and not contagious because of other children there, that would be unfair to her (because she would still feel ill) and to others at the party.

hi foggy

dnephew had it when I was very late on with dd2

I think its only a huge issue if your birth is imminent or you're very early stages

if she has is today and the spots are up by Sat am pretty sure she should be ok

if its worrying you run it past the MW though

FoghornLeghorn · 08/07/2008 22:53

Mingming - the spots appeared on Sunday, GP said once spots scabbed over she's no longer contagious so we are going to see how she is on Saturday ..... she's not poorly with it luckily for her.

Thanks guys - I thought it would be OK as i've defo had them.

Have midwife on Thursday so will run past her just in case

right - 1pm to 4pm it is then

we had about 20 kids at an outdoor strawberry farm/play area and it had black clouds hanging over it all morning (we were there 11am-1pm) and it only started leaving when we all finally piled out at 3pm

I'm 29 weeks and dd has just had cpox - think there is no risk if you are already immune as I am.
