If I was early, will my baby be....?

30uuummsomething years ago I was born 7 weeks early because my mum had an "incompentent cervix" and wasn;t strong enough to hold me in.

3 years later my sister was "stitched in" and taken out by CS due to Mum's incompetent cervix, but Mum did manage to hang on to her for 39 weeks.

Is this condition likely to be hereditary? If my baby is as early as I was, then I might be having it in 3 weeks time! I have asked my mw, who was very non committal and vague.

I would have thought that if you had problems with your cervix that could cause baby to come early it would have been picked up by now one way or another.

I was 5 weeks prem & my DD was born at 39+4, this Little Man did try & escape at 33+0 but has hung on in there {wink}

is there anything in this for a normal pregnancy? my brother (firstborn) was two weeks early and i (second) was three weeks early.

I have 6 children and they varied from 2 weeks early to 2 weeks late. one came on due date so i dont think whether you were early or late is relevent!

It seems that all the babies going up my maternal line have been 2-4 weeks early. In fact my grandmother was told that if she ever had a third she should just turn up to the hosipital at 36 weeks and wait there! My mother told me that I would have my baby early and fast and she was right (3 weeks early, 4 hours established labour)
