Talk about every stage of pregnancy, from early symptoms to preparing for birth.

So hypothetically speaking, if I had 4 clearblue tests here with 4 same results and 4 internet cheapies with completely opposite results... which would one believe?

just curious
and ever so slightly shitting oneself
so
4 clearblue with the same results
4 internet cheapies with the same result as each other but not as the clearblue...

the ones you did with teh first wees of the day might be more accurate

depends on how late you are

lulumama · 08/07/2008 12:00

and did you read the test results within the correct time etc..

fryalot · 08/07/2008 12:00

I would believe whichever one said I was pregnant.

I think it is more likely to get a false negative than a false positive.

PussinJimmyChoos · 08/07/2008 12:00

Ahh - depends on the sensitivity...from what I've heard, the internet cheapies are more sensitive than the clearblue....

So.....check that out then...spill the beans...

The pg ones!!!!

Playingthe9monthwait · 08/07/2008 12:02

It depends which ones are the most sensitive, if you used FMU, if you read them in the correct time and if you are testing early.

E.g if you are using clearblue digital tests I do not think they are as sensitive as ebay cheapies (they are certainly not as sensitve as tesco own brand and ordinary clear blue) so I would probably trust the most sensitive ones and wait a couple of days and then re-try another brand with FMU.

QueenyEisGotTheBall · 08/07/2008 12:03

it depends on what the results are TBH i have heard bad reviews of both kind of test so i would maybe buy a different brand of test maybe predictor or first response and do it first thing in the morning. just out of curiosity which one was which result-wise? good luck

ok first wee net cheapies but not ultra early
CB with 2nd wee but only cos I have lower back pain which is kind of classic with me.

The CBs are all crosses 2 from yesterday 2 from today
yesterday lines thick ones todays bit thinner but very visible.
the cheapies get a faint line straight away then it fades after 5 mins... so end up seeing nothing.

did google clearblue false positives and they do happen
no idea when af is due only that I know I ov'd 12 days ago...

get on with it puss!!

i thikn positive results can hang around, where as negative ones don;t

what is your cycle like normally? 28 days ?

are you wnating to be pregnant? is this a contraceptive failure?

Eversoslightlyabitworried · 08/07/2008 12:07

CB lines came up straight away and stayed starting off thinner getting thicker?
why is this never clear cut doing my head in

  • test would be "better" as things stand

not so much contraceptive failure, unless you count thinking it was fine mentally clocking af dates at height of infrequent passionate moment and deciding oh well it'll be fine the ovulating 3 days afterwards as contraceptive failure....

OP posts:
lulumama · 08/07/2008 12:13

oooooh.... i seee

so the CB tests were positive then? i guess that is the answer. a positive result is usually more accurate, you cannot get a false positive, as the HcG is only in your body if you are pregnant

PussinJimmyChoos · 08/07/2008 12:16

Sperm can live in the body for around 5 days so its entirely plausible that there were some of 'em around when you ovulated and I would say a CB positive is a positive...especially if the lines started to get thicker....

Natalie1984 · 08/07/2008 12:31

well hun i had similar thing happen to me so i went docs and she said u CANT get a false positive but u can get false negitives so if 4 of then say positive id go with that sorry if its not what u wanna hear. xx

Eversoslightlyabitworried · 08/07/2008 12:32

oh joy...
well time will tell pretty sure af due today/tomorrow as 29 day cycle and last oen started on a monday...
now I need to think hard... talk to DH
Am quite scared
but not ready to reveal here sorry...

Natalie1984 · 08/07/2008 12:32

oh and i had the same amount of pos testa as i did neg tests again all differnet brands and it turned out doc was right and u cant get false pos as im now 36 wks gone!

Eversoslightlyabitworried · 08/07/2008 12:33

and just had a look and there are if you look carefully (which I didn't as was in ostrich mode) there are faint lines on the cheapies after all...

OP posts:
belcantavinissima · 08/07/2008 12:35

i would tend to believe the the clearblue ones

chocbiscuits · 08/07/2008 12:42

I understand the clearblue are 99% accurate, I only did one (which was +), and now have a large bump with something squirming around in it....
