Horrible heartburn/indegestion at 37 weeks. What's the stongest medicine?

I have tried Rennie tablets for the last two days and it is not helping at all. I know I am lucky to have not suffered until so late in the pregnancy, but it is aweful now. Is there anything stronger I can take?

Also, is there foods that make it worse or that I should avoid?

Thanks!

You can get a prescription for Gaviscon Advance or Zantac from your GP or a nurse with prescription capabilities.

Sometimes tomato based foods can make it worse.

Hi - I had this for the last few weeks of my pregnancy (I delivered at 37 weeks) and I got a prescription of something which didn't work too well, but what did work a treat was raising up the head end of the bed with two or three books. It was either that or sleep sitting up which I couldn't do.

Worth a try and good luck with the birth when the time comes!

If nothing is helping then I would be inclined to get it checked to rule out epigastric pain.

Some info here

Zantac. Saved my life.

I find the chewable rennies are better than the other sort.

Don't bend forwards if you can avoid it (e.g. loading dishwasher)

Don't lie flat - use at least 2 pillows

Don't drink anything just before lying down

I find coffee and spicy food particularly aggravating.
